spaceman
With the centre console you should look into using a 1990 mitsi galant centre console? I have one in my escort they just don't look all saggy like the ford ones end up looking.
Truenotch
Remove all interior and paint surfaces with Hammerite - problem solved . Looking good Chris!
My name is Russell
KK and Gas the hole makers you guys have are just punches though are they? Im after a punch / flare tool to retain strength as the panel is already super flimsy. Might just leave as is now actually its right were numberplate lives and already warped on one side from cutting welding and folding thats gone on behind it. Was just going to wire brush and por15 everywhere on the interior apart from doors roof etc after the experior is painted. Just a round orbital sander, na hands are sweet , only took 6 odd 12 hour days sanding, the workshop is an absolute tip now however! It looks like the flares have allot of bog in pictures but there is not actually to much as used flush counter sunk rivets with a shitload of glue so could then grind the edge right down with flapper wheel then used Nutech to etch it onto the body (man that stuffs narly!) and then flapper wheeled that stuff down and gave each guard two big skims of bog and thats basicly it. Cheers spaceman that does look tidy, will probably just end up running a Gstick shroud directly fixed to the tunel as purpose of this car has changed from when i first started. How bad an idea do you guys recon it would be painting the exterior before getting the cage fitted would be, they must fit them all the time with cars with paintjobs already done on new cars?. mab i should just lay down some of that high build bog and then save for one. Next purchase will be R888's in two weeks time when im back in Welly. Got two pairs of mirrors on the way from the UK as could not decide which ones i prefered. How difficuly is it to fit lexen to an escort front and rear window with the curve? na cancel that will just order seals and keep it orig. Gaz
Haha two sets of mirrors, lucky ya mrs just went home and isnt reading this I think when lexan front windows etc require a break point in the middle or something like aidens.. not sure if this is then WOFable. Id say worth doing tho as lexan is WAY WAY WAY lighter than glass.... + looks staunch. Gaz
My name is Russell
Yeah from this guy here, Helpfull joker too http://www.classic-car-accessories.co.u ... index.html got two of these two of these and one of these for bling Aparintly the bullet mirrors are a complete waste of time on escorts and dont work. Which not keen on as i imagine when strapped in with harness visibility is a little trickier.

Might just leave as is now actually its right were numberplate lives and already warped on one side from cutting welding and folding thats gone on behind it. I think maybe you can get punches that flare as well - otherwise you punch the hole then use a flaring tool after. anyone ok with a lathe could make a flaring tool - just just like an inside and an outside matching parts (turned up with the curve of the flare) with a threaded spigot in the middle to line them up and tighten. then put one in from each side of hoel and tighten the threaded bit. Im guessing you can probably buy these too. edit here we go http://vansantent.com/sheet_metal_machines/punch_flare_tools.htm or just the flaring http://vansantent.com/sheet_metal_machines/dimple_dies.htm
Truenotch
Punch and flare tools are very expensive... I think my cost was over $100 for a 30mm one.
My name is Russell
Cheers guys, think i will just leave for now. would be dead keen on a 50mm aviation one for general lightning holes in places. Just scribbled out a template for two GUSSET PLATEs to cut and weld when i get back. Dimensins taken from rally prep manual Read the rally prep manual 3 times over now. Brilliant read.
