711M just means it's the later Kent found in Escorts.

The BA and the deck height over the watter pump are the quickest ways to tell.

No not really, you want an AX block for that - it was designed for really crap african petrol and is much heavier. It's the block the original rally escorts bored 1840ccs out of.

71 is the year the block was designed I think - the previous being the 68(1F), and then next mod was to put it into a fwd fiasco, which is a 77(1M) block ( and the engine mounts are wrong amongst other things ).

So what you're after is a 711M6015BA block for 1600, AA for 11/1300. Not the easy to read wrong 771M6051BA!

If it is the same Gbox as the mk2 ghias used then it is closer ratio. I sold the one out of my old ghia for $350 about 3 years ago. Dont know how to tell tho.

Yes, there is a couple of clutch options to do it, either get the stock Kent flywheel redrilled to take a Cortina/Sierra clutch, or use a Hillman Hunter clutch plate with the stock Escort pressure plate.

You also need to take a couple of mm off the input shaft or it puts load onto your thrust washers.
