wannabe
Awesome racing. Whats in the blue EG and the Starlet? Jeez they were quick!
Truenotch
Oh cool, those are the ones Mike Jane has bought? I do need a set, but engine development isn't in the budget yet. The EG has a K20A and the Starlet has a Speedfactor built B20B Honda engine.
Vintage Grumble
In the fastest lap vid, you can hear that shock bottom out, sounds quite nasty. My old boss that raced HQ's had a set of rear shocks he only used at puke, so he could make that corner at full knackers.
Celica RA45
yes thats right mike jane, that has his own car servicing or some kind .what car does he have marku

Truenotch
At the moment I'm revving to 8,000 and the lowest is probably around 5500 at one track, but normally above 6,000.Mike has the grey AE86 that I catch up to at the end of my fastest lap video. Celica RA45
by the sounds of it ,he might be pulling away from you know
Truenotch
His car should be exactly the same speed as mine in theory - we both made similar numbers on the dyno, both a similar weight and have the same gearing, but his car still seems to lack the straight line pace. Hopefully that throttle kit brings him up to where he needs to be.
Roman
Hope everything's fine apart from the wheel, looking forward to seeing how this goes at the drags! What's your car like off the line, is it hard to get power down or is it sweet?
Truenotch
It gets off the line well when I get everything right. I just hook 2nd, give it about 5000 revs and slip the clutch a bit to minimise wheel spin.
Roman
Sheesh that's a way higher rpm than I can launch at. The joys of good tires! Cant wait for Saturday, giz a race gee (By which I mean a decent head start )
Truenotch
I'll be running old RA1's which will hopefully do burnouts. Will be on fake wheels too, so watch your back.
Roman
Dont the rules say you need to run a scatter blanket over your whole car if you're running fake wheels?
mjrstar
That sounds like a prety quick laptime for a 2l na at Puke, My turbo starlet was doing 1:12's on the quicker non kinked back straight, and that felt fairly rapid in places - novice spec though. I hope that the rear suspension is still all where it should be after that nudge..
Truenotch
Yeah, I'm pretty happy with the time considering it's only 185hp and the rear shocks are fairly buggered. Quickest in the class was a 1.10! Rhys's dad got down to a 1.14.8 in his AE82 Corolla which is pretty impressive too.
Rhyscar
The EG has a K20A and the Starlet has a Speedfactor built B20B Honda engine. The k/f series Honda motors are all putting out about 170 kw atw (bit more for the better built cars) and both of those cars will be fairly close to the 900 kg weight limit. You'd drop a second with good shocks I reckon your car and dad's are so evenlt matched at manfield which is a way smoother track. Pretty similar straight line speed and corner speed. Your chassis is waay better to set it up into the corner how you want. Ae82 has so much play in everything its a bit of a turn and hope kind of exercise

Truenotch
Had a look under the car last night and it looks like it was a combination of the shock bottoming out and the panhard rod fouling on the body at full travel. So new shocks and a slight modification of the panhard bracket will fix those issues. Thanks Dave, I looked but have no need for any of those things right now (thankfully).
