You would need to make a cad/3d print file however but I'm assuming you've got the orginal perished parts Quote
BigA Posted August 5, 2024 Author Posted August 5, 2024 That's a good suggestion. If I can't find a replacement I will look into that option Quote
BigA Posted September 29, 2024 Author Posted September 29, 2024 Wow roughly $4k just on brakes eek!! Quote
dabuzz Posted October 23, 2024 Posted October 23, 2024 Who is repair certifier? I struggled to find anyone out west who would even show up, and when I did they were mostly dicks, the guy I eventually used has retired now. Â Quote
shrike Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 If you need to remove sound deadening/underseal you can look at doing it yourself Not a fun job tho, you can use dry ice to freeze underseal off Quote
BigA Posted November 14, 2024 Author Posted November 14, 2024 Does anyone know somewhere there maybe a 50 series crown as I need a passenger side lower rear cut as the one I have is too short Quote
Spencer Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 Going to be tough to find one in NZ, I think the arse end panels are wagon specific so to find a rust free wagon in NZ being chopped up would be nearly impossible? All the 50 series I have seen in NZ had rust and I only ever knew of one wagon getting around (although I am sure there are a few more) Someone with some metal skills could make that up no problem. 1 Quote

I worked out for what I wanted to do to it it was going to cost me about $70k to get it on the road then plus all the mods I had done to the chassis and the change to LVVTA rules it might have been a shit show to get it compliant. Opted to part some of the stuff and then sell the rolling car plus engine as one. 2 Quote
BigA Posted January 2 Author Posted January 2 Help Hey need some help on 2 fronts here guys. I am going to be selling the original motor and gearbox in the wagon to a guy down south who has a left hand drive version of mine and just need some indication of what it would be worth? 2M motor with 5 speed gearbox. Also trying to find measurements of the 2gr-fse engine as that is the route I would like to go but can't find any measurements online to see if it would fit. Cheers Quote

Cheers Hey, My understanding is the 4GR, 3GR, and 2GR are all physically the same size. Just shorter stroke and so on internally. So, at last check there are at least 1x 4GR powered car at each pickapart location in Auckland. and a few 3GR. (3 litre version) So you should be able to go eyeball something and measure it. Look on the pickapart website for Toyota Mark X GRX120 (or similar) The rear sump setup is a nightmare though, as is overall height with the standard sump if you dont want to chop the bonnet.  Quote
BigA Posted January 3 Author Posted January 3 Cool thanks for that. I went into a Lexus dealer and did a hand meaure (LOL) and worked from there and transferred that to an estimated actual measure but will go to a pick a part and do a proper measure off the engine. Looking at the actual engine I think I may have issues with the height more than anything. Quote
BigA Posted January 3 Author Posted January 3 So got some proper measurements and have decided to scrap the V6 idea as yea I could make it fit but I don't think the mods warrant doing it. Will go back to looking at the 1jz/2jz option 1 Quote
Ja1lb8 Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Old 2m's aren't really worth much. I've paid $100 for several of them , maybe if it's complete and running, gear box changes gear nice I'd stretch to $500 for the lot.  Brought several old crowns and they've all come "spare" m, 2m ,4m engines thrown in just so people can get rid of them I'd say 1 Quote
BigA Posted January 20 Author Posted January 20 I'm looking into leading some of the factory seams. Does anyone know where I can get a lead body kit locally? Quote
johnnyizegem Posted January 28 Posted January 28 I agree, that tailgate design is a disaster... 1 Quote
