Its been bleeding expensive to get here (owes me about $600 give or take with all the bits it needs) but it's already proven its worth on the Rover and should be handy for tuning the carbs on the Marina when the time comes.

fuel
could you maybe swap out your tail lamp and regular brake lamps for LED also? the on/off difference between the LEDs in the fog housing and the incandescent in the regular brake lamp housing is triggering my OCD haha

Probably has to do with the size/shape of the reflector which is really narrow and rectangular (the fog light one is round). The tail lamps are even worse with LEDs, which is why I went with the halogens. E: Here's testing I did earlier. Bulb LH, LED RH. The LED creates a sharp hot spot, but nothing around it
ThePog
Man I did the same thing when working out the fuel consumption on the X1/9, I thought it was terrible for a disappointingly long time until I remembered the speedo was in miles not kms. /Forehead smack 2
Roman
That's still incredibly dreadful mileage. haha

Roman
A modern ECU would do absolute wonders for this, and would probably pay itself off in about 5 weeks of fuel consumption.
ThePog
Yea i love the level of barry @kws has achieved in deep diving that injection system but a new contol system would have to be better in so many ways. Still its pretty great as it is.
Roman
For sure, and out of the scope of this project when he's got the Marina to work on as well. I'm just stoked its all running and driving nicely now. 1
kws
Oh yeah running Speeduino on the last one (albeit in 3.5l from) unlocked so much potential from the engine. Did plan on doing it to this one too, but as correctly stated, I'd rather spend the time and money on the Marina instead. I keep telling myself this car was never meant to be a project, and was sold as "needs a little tlc"...
ajg193
If your afr ratios are as reasonable as your gauge says they are then there probably won't be a huge amount of economy to gain from aftermarket ECU. Definitely invest in marina
