I was thinking I could make something out of aluminium but a 3d printed one would be easier if the guy on NZMX5's is doing it, I've joined now to try find them. Lol, that's a bit weird about being banned.
~Slideways~
Haven't had much time to spend on this but have tested the Speeduino in the car a bit more. I had a problem where it seemed like it wasn't reading the trigger signal but have it working now. When its connected to the car it reads: - Air temp, with a generic Holden/GM sensor. - RPM through the factory loom - Water Temp - MAP (vac line to speeduino onboard sensor) - TPS (BMW one not on the car yet) - Injectors duty cycle I still need to sort out an AFR sensor and controller. Maybe I'll just use the one off the 200sx for now. Previously it just cranked and didn't start but I was happy because it was communicating with sensors etc, this time it actually fired for about 1 second and got up to 1500rpm then died. I view this as a big success though! It does stuff! Even without the TPS fitted since I found I need to remove the throttlebody to get it off the shaft, ran out of time/daily driver things. I can't tell if the fuel pump is running because its so quiet. Maybe it's just not getting fuel. Also, much thanks to @Roman for printing this adapter:
~Slideways~
Have been driving this everywhere, bit of a tidy up and a new wof. Took the Semi's off and put the super cats back on, man what a difference the tyre walls make it feel like the tyres are flat. Still fun but easy to out drive the grip now. Shame the semi's are so fckn loud, louder than the worst mud terrains I've had! Haven't had a chance to do anything else on the Speeduino yet, needed it as the daily while working on other cars. Out of interest I unbolted a spare 1.6 exhaust manifold to see how bad the collector was to see if they were as bad as Roman's ones. Yes they are. Welded on the inside with a thick bead which is choking it down from the head port size: Look at how much the tube is crushed to fit into the collector! From the inside it doesn't look so bad because you can't see the crushed bit, but based on the outside, they must be bottled necked heaps here? Why didn't they just make the cone bit a little bigger to avoid crushing down all four tubes? Bet if I made a better manifold it'd make at least 2hp across the board.

Popular Post ~Slideways~
Did almost 20,000km in this in the year I've had it, so much fun to drive and change gear more than is necessary. Currently driving a very boring 2000 Ford Laser hatch (Mazda BJ chassis) with the 1.6 ZM-de, which is the same engine family as the mx5 b6ze from what I understand. Apparently the head will fit onto the B6 block with the only difference being 2 extra oil drains on the later engine. But the port design is different etc, no fancy VVt or anything. But the 1.5 zl-ve does have vvt, so its an interesting concept to maybe fit the 1.5 vvt head to a B6ze? While it is rated to a similar power it feels very lethargic compared to the Mx5, it's probably mostly gearing but maybe the later head's port angles are more economy designed like FE Toyota heads? Current plan is to use the Laser for daily duties and then install the Speeduino in the mx5 so I don't have to rely on it for commuting. So basically a daily for my daily. I swapped on some R888's and later 15's mx5 wheels (enkei's and really light) and drove it rain or shine for a few months. Can seriously throw it around with those on it. Had the roof down on single digit morning, good way to wake up for work. Hard top back on now with all the rain. Took it for a hoon out to the coast for lunch a while ago, was a super clear day too:
~Slideways~
I ended up loaning the Laser to someone so have still been using this as a daily driver, so no speeduino testing like planned yet. Soon will hopefully have a ST202 Celica wof'd to take over that idea. I did cut up the spare stock 1.6 exhaust manifold though, I plan to reuse the flange to make something that flows a bit better. Kind of keen to make a stupidly long bendy spaghetti thing just because. It's strange that they put the tube inside the hole instead of outside so it would match the head ports? Maybe its easier to weld? The flange on the other end is necked down to about 41mm or 1inch and 5/8 other-inch-parts once you account for the internal welding again. Again, pretty small considering the ports work out to be about 38mm. Out of interest I cut it off at the collector to see how bad those squished tubes are, and while this looks bad: Its not actually THAT bad, at least they are shaped to meet in the centre I suppose: The ports measure to about the same as a 38mm tube so I'll probably just make something out of mild steel mandrel bends.
~Slideways~
Lockdown means a bit more time for projects. Put these on, a 2nd set of factory 15" Enkei's. Really light, the tyres are a bit old but will do for a while. Monster truck ride height, mostly due to not settling...he tells himself. Also have two spare Momo steering wheels, the stock steering wheel is a bit big and the top part moves/twist around a bit which is annoying. Choice of an old Momo competition model from the early 90's I think, slightly smaller than stock but nice thick grip. Or the Momo Corse like I have on the 200sx which is smaller than the Competition. The photo makes it look bigger. Can see the Corse on top is smaller: Decided to try the Corse first. Stock wheel, nice day: Momo Corse, overcast next day: Moving it around on the driveway and its definitely a bit more work due to no power steering but feels good and much more solid feeling than the stock one which had some flex. Also decided to grind back the cracking paint on the drivers side guard, which is where it was dented and I'd hammered it back out. Put some brunox on it for now. Not that I have any kind of top coat to suit...
~Slideways~
Some high fill primer, tapping with hammers etc and its looking better. These high spots are hard to feel so its getting close. Tempted to paint it yellow, that Toyota Aqua orange-y yellow.

~Slideways~
This arrived today, its in the long term plan but it came up for a good price so here we are. It's from a 06/07 model GSXR600 To simplify it I'll remove the first set of throttle plates and try use the GSXR fuel rail, didn't come with injectors but will see what I can do. It has twin rails and 8 injector ports. Will block off the first set etc.
Popular Post ~Slideways~
Quick measurements. JZX100/ST215 injectors are too long but the top fits and the bottom would need a different rubber seal. You can see the longer bolts to hold down the rail show how much longer the injectors are. It also doesn't have a regulator or return line outlet. So maybe I should try use the factory rail instead, but that would mean the 3d printed design will be more complicated. Removed the 2nd set of throttle plates: Will need to plug up these holes:
shrike
Can you run a deadhead system for the fueling? and have the regulator at the back? (obviously it wouldn't be vacuum referenced unless you run a vac line) Guessing one rail has a feed? can you use the output of that rail as a return? Yep the first rail has the inlet and an outlet which feeds the main rail. The first rail has different mounts and those injectors are before the throttle plates. The first set of throttle plates which I've removed are not usable as the main/only t/b's because they don't seal properly (big gap around the circumference). Probably only used for the bikes for bottom end. If I do use it, the easiest option is just to weld it.
chris r
What length do the injectors need to be? I have some honduh ones which look to be shorter and may work
CUL8R
Why not just cut a end off the rail and weld a -AN fitting on for a return?
