Popular Post dabuzz Posted May 22, 2023 Author Popular Post Posted May 22, 2023 Yes sold - after spending 10 years building it, after driving it, I realised it was just a little bit too nice, and didnt quite suit my needs anymore. its beautiful to look at but in reality (I thought) I needed something a bit more user/family friendly to just chuck the kids in and go for an ice cream etc, and that I wouldn't be so precious about. its gone to a really nice home, and will be well looked after, I got to pay a bit of debt off, and still have enough for another nice car that wasn't 100k++ Have been looking at RX4 sedans, but all have had various degrees of rust with a 60k price tag and I really don't want to go down that road again if I can help it. But I have just this weekend made a handshake deal on another car, which makes a semi-liar out of me from what I have just said above Will post more on that in a few weeks once I get the new car home 18 1 Quote

I had it listed for Mikey for ages and did a few bits of pieces on it before it went on the market. He painted my Impala and is painting my RX3. Bloody tidy car thatll look a heap different with some different wheels! Quote
oldrx7 Posted June 12, 2023 Posted June 12, 2023 Awesome! 4 coupe's are boss, and even though that's got as you've said some 2000 era mods, it's nothing that can't be altered / changed to suit your taste. Agree on the wheels, that car deserves much better than some $500 advanti's. Something 14"/15" japanese would be the go IMO. Or titans of course. 1 Quote

Theres a few nastys around the car, but ill just work through those at some point. Quote

Popular Post re10 Posted June 15, 2023 Popular Post Posted June 15, 2023 I owned this RX4, twice - picked it up in a car yard, North Road Invercargill in 1986 with bugger all K's and one owner who was a heavy smoker (took ages to clean the inside and get the smell out). Came in Alexandrite Gold Metallic (awesome polished and in the sun) and was like a new one! In amazing shape and was a cool ride compared to the other cars I was looking at (Escort Sport and the like) with the wrap around dash and overhead console - so quiet and smooth, rev'ing to infinity and beyond. Had some great times, trashed it as you do - upgraded to a stock 13B out of an RX5 (with the torque converter/manual 5 speed). When the kids started to show up it was sold (around 1989 or 90?) and picked up an RX3 sedan as the daily. Shifted to Welly in 1991, and in the late 90's tracked it down again and made an offer (was sitting in a shed unused). The 13B was on the last legs and it was rolling on hotwires... A 'Peter Hopkin's' 13b stage 2 with an IDA, and some rust fixed around the door hinge and we were rolling again. Stock interior and paint, but someone had upgraded the front disc's. Sold it a couple of years later for $6,500 I think... big mistake, should have kept it in the shed. Enjoy!! 14 4 Quote

re10 Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 Yep great memories, They weren't that sought after back in the day - took a while to sell... could leave it anywhere and no one would think about nicking it. Had lots of fun trying to work out the top speed, but on stock suspension was not a great handler... took it to a club day at Teretonga for some circuit racing... passed all the Datto's on the main straight, and then they would pass me on the twisty bits. Agree re the interior, real shame, it's not ideal... finding a stock interior will be next to impossible. Regardless, it is a cool car - if you ever decide to sell drop me a line lol If you want any more pic's of it, drop me a line. Quote
crustywhip Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 I remember a gold 4 coupe around the late 90s maybe early 2000s located in Tawa. I see the Auto trader ad is 04 so could be this car. Any vehicles that drove up where it lived and the curtain would fly open with a head peering out. Pretty sure there was an rx7 parked in the same drive way. Cool car. Quote
