samii
just wondering if there are any worthwhile ways to strengthen the diff? i've heard you can shorten the hilux diffs and have them put in there, but i've also heard that's pretty expensive and that it needs quite a bit of work. Are there any other ways to make the diff slightly stronger?
UTERUS
I have no idea how wide escort diffs are but rn25 hilux has the narrowest of all diffs, try find one of them.
samii
but wouldn't that be expensive to get the diff shortened and all to fit the width of the escort?
KKtrips
takes $1000 or more to narrow and adapt a diff. (when done properly)
Unclejake
Standard Escort and Cortina diffs will take 160hp if you aren't doing burnouts. Unless you are spending a heck of a lot on that pinto of yours or are driving like a D1 king your existing diff will be fine
BS5620
how about this trademe listing http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =247126054 would be cool if dollars permitted!!! LSD and disc brakes already there. tho stud pattern and offset would be different from front wheels!!!
Sorensin
yea i was looking at that listing as I to am looking to upgrade the rear end, the diff is slightly longer than std and 4.8 is a killer ratio.. id be after around 4 even slightly below would be better. fuel
That L200 diff is a 10-bolt item, which looks to be the 8" size.
Gaz
Bit wider than std escort tho. Strength compared to hilux? Gaz

Requiemk
have heard Mazda b1600 diff bolts right in(and is just a tad wider- quick search online escort=1280mm b1600=1300)could be worth a measure up i can measure said diff if its of use to anyone
samii
i might just try find all the measurements for as any as i can see if any of them measure up close to the escort one. And ultimately if that fail then i'll resort back to hilux one, with them is it jus shortened that needs doing or is there more involved in the process? Sorensin
well obviously you'll need to put/move mounting brackets, sway bar brackets etc. Also using a hilus diff will give you the srong stud pattern and you'll have to run a pedal box or similar for the brakes
Gaz
I got an escort one I can measure.
