mx_freak69
Yuh so in the throws of churbroing a 2L pinto, carburetted. Using a 32/36 DGV. Just wanting info if anyone has done this, what jet sizes they used, I/C options, fuel pressure regulators etc. Not doing EFI. NOT. Don't care how much better and more amazing it may be, not doing it . Any ideas, throw them out there. Unless its EFI!
UTERUS
Suck through will be easier to tune, have you scoured the wonders of the internet for knowledge of these mysterious carb devices. /efi
mx_freak69
Yeap spent many hours browsing the enet for facts. Cant find anything of value. Not keen on drawthru due to lack of i/c, bov etc. Got plenty of time to fark around with tuning so 0 drama on that aspect.
ESKIN8R
Make an offer on these 2lt pinto parts if ur keen Also got a decompression plate
UTERUS
Ok sweet, from what i've found in the past is to copy something that works well from factory. I also remember seeing somewhere, a box built around the crabulator so the whole jobby was pressurised.
mx_freak69
Yea fairly sorted on pressurebox. Uncertain if floats will be crushed under pressure tho? Eskin8r, hav pm'd ye
UTERUS
Make a box with a float in it and pressurise it with a compressor to test
mx_freak69
^^ = sweet idea. Was just guna fill with expanding foam type dealeyo
Hemi
Make a box with a float in it and pressurise it with a compressor to test orrr , get one made out of a fuel resistant foam .
mikuni
^^ = sweet idea. Was just guna fill with expanding foam type dealeyo expanding foam will likely be heavier and fuck shit up. I like the idea of a light fuel resistant foam. What will you be using for spark, standard dizzy setup with locked advance? Aside from the pressurized carb thing I have heard that getting the timing right is the other most difficult issue to contend with. It might be worth going with an aftermarket spark only ecu just to rule out any difficulties there? They aren't too expensive and would be quite straight forward to setup. mx_freak69
What will you be using for spark, standard dizzy setup with locked advance? Pretty much. Just taking away centrifugal weights and vac. advance. Had thought of going ECU direction but not so keen on that. Still wanting all ideas/opinions tho! Burntrubber
I've done this before using a 32/36 just use 1 with plastic floats their all good. I locked the dizzy at 22 degrees for 8psi do a degree less for each pound down to say 15 degrees. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=5073&hilit=turboed+work+hack
mx_freak69
I've done this before using a 32/36 Std jets? 1mm drill bit to 2ndrys? Any issues with needle and seats under pressure?
Brock-Lee
draw through. Who needs a bov and who needs an intercooler. lets be honest, your only gonna be running >10psi anyways. Having a boxed carb is just a pain in the arse to tune, you have to take the box apart to adjust anything. Get a decent sized SU, j pipe manifold, blow into the stock inlet manifold. for a few hundred bucks you will have a fucken funny little turbo setup. doit
sentra
suck thru on meth and a bov venting onto the exhaust manifold or efi dont compromise
eke_zetec_RWD
suck through ftw no restriction after throttle means no bov needed and the fuel will cool the air charge a lil bit. my first such through pinto went hard!! im efi now though
cletus
turbo can be an issue for suck thru turbo as they usually arent designed to have vacuum on the compressor side, may require fandangled seal to avoid clouds of smokes may be easier to use small holley 2 barrel? easy to get parts, theres plenty of blown v8s making good power with 4 barrel holleys and you can get bits to suit blowthru application. they dont have boxes around carb either usually a hat on top. im sure the 2010 wrx has a blow thru carb set up. or nah
Brock-Lee
you just use a carbon sealed turbo. takes a bit more looking around but they are still out there/rebuild a carb using the right seals and you are sweet. It also only smokes on decel, just put up with it 2010 wrx wtf?
cletus
was thinking the other day of similar ideas ( non computer conrolled turbo shenanigans) of using wastegate actuator to retard timing under boost- like a vacuum advance but in reverse
