Vintage Grumble
got some old 205 50 15 and 205 55 15's you can try stretch on there , there is a pile of them around the back of the house. Chur, I may have to borrow one of the 50's off you when you're back. BTW, has anyone gone throught the cert process recently with under sized tyres on? A friend of mine just got a cert for his te71 with cronic tire stretch. This has a wof and is dailyed Tires fitted arnt what he went through cert with. He had Work 01's 14 x 7.5 with 175s i believe That is good to know, its the only thing that worries me a bit, the whole legal side of it/will it void my insurance. Its insured as a hot rod anyways, they dont really seem to care what mods it has, lols.

Kelvin
BTW, has anyone gone throught the cert process recently with under sized tyres on? Jordan aka nanarei is going though this now, got the ok to run 195/45's on 15x8.5'' As long as you get a letter from the tyre manufacturer saying that its safe it sounds like there pretty ok with it from what I hear. Vintage Grumble
Well shit me, thats some sweet info rite there. I've decided to run 205 50's on 9's so its hardly hektik stretch, so shouldnt have a problem getting some tyre manufacturers blessing. Dont spoze you have any idea what brand hes using? Vintage Grumble
OK, I just rang and talked to the top dog at YHI (who are the biggest importer of tyres in NZ) and he said he finds it very, very hard to believe that any tyre manufacturer would supply a letter ok'ing tyre stretch on any of their products outside of what they recommend in their literature, i.e. minimum for a 9" rim is a 235 width tyre. Balls.

Kelvin
There Avon Motorsport CR500's, they are recommended for 6.5''-8.5'' rims. This page here is what you need to show you certifier- http://www.avonracing.com/road_legal_page.aspx He said they work out to be about $300 each ex UK. You have 9''s so this is probably of no use to you at all but some one out there may find it helpful
Vintage Grumble
Cheers man, thanks for the info, like you say, wont help me much, but its very interesting that tyre has such a wide fitment range, wonder whats different about it/if the side walls are constructed differently? ryanfels
I was looking to run those Avon tyres when i was doing my cert but it was just going to cost to much for 4 tyres
Vintage Grumble
Yeh, that is a bit pricey, and still wont cover my ass due to the extra 1/2 inch of rim. Will just have to do what i'ma do and hope for the best I guess!
ryanfels
Is the size stamped in or a sticker?

Vintage Grumble
Is the size stamped in or a sticker? I had a look, and there is no size written on the rim at all (There is a code which ends in 1509, but its on the back and not that clear)
