Wonder if you could take the signal from a bike speedo adapted onto one if the struts etc.

Whats the signal that is required for the unit to work?

Eeek could be an expensive speedo if i have to buy one of these to make it work

have been told the G1 V5 does not have any speedo output. so that must mean you can only run mechanical speedo's in conjunction with that ecu.

there is another option mate

use the dash out of the same sort of car the

gear box came from.

im now useing a full s13 dash cluster but my dash

will not look like an escort one im remaking the whole

thing.

but im pretty sure you can get an adaptor for mech to elec

speed sensor.

Would ideally like to do this if possable.

So far had the following two replies on a mazda forum;

........

ME: What about some sort of adaptor to come of the machanical speedo at the gearbox and convert it to digital?

Link supplier: yes you can get them but it needs a ecu inbetween as a interface as the speedo cant read read directly from the speed sensor i remember from when my gtr had a speedo like that

........

Then advice from someone else:

"my friend had to do it the other way around so you mite be able to..

when you say cosmo box do you mean rotary cosmo?

he has a rx8 box that had a digital output.. he took the car to robinson instrumental in auckland and they played with to bw mechnical.

i know bringing your car up here isnt an option but give them a call and they may be able to point you in the right direction.

Robinson Instrumental is in new market or khyber pass i think"

mount a abs senser so its reading the rear of the wheel studs, and run into speedo.

How do they work? does it just require a wheel to scan of for one rotation. does it need 12V to it or anything? sounds like a great solution for if i blow my gbox and have to upgrade to the W5 or whatever one less thing to have to do twice.

Can they be made to work stand allone without the assistance of my ECU?

meh go pick a part and pocket/undies it.

the speedo you got is programable a????

Its variable so its its out by 30kms you can wind it back to be accurate etc, i believe thats how it works.

This is what I'm being told by that guy that rebuilt the engine and dyno tuned the link (darryl)

http://www.amazd.co.nz/forum/viewtopic. ... 233#182233

Basically he is saying i cant run it stand alone but surely there is a way you can?

Lub confused Chris

Just spent the night with Aiden/timmy getting advice on setting diff up. He is keen on adding some camber so i said ok  and doing everything 100% properly which im still trying to get to grips with but yeah stocked he is going to be giving me a had, something will be done properly yay. so going to get absilutly everything settup breaks, lines, cables, pan hard, seals n all done before putting it back in.
