My name is Russell
What you guys think of these? http://www.xxrwheels.com/sportmax_002.shtml Can get them 16 x 8 in 5x114.3 with 3.5" dish Not sure if they would suit the escort? They are more for japaneese styled cars perhaps? Anyone board and know how to use photoshop Im also thinking i might paint her gunmetal grey as i will probably be selling the 4 door once this project car is all up and running reliably which i expect will be a year or two away. Need some photoshop experts because iv never even seen a bubble arch escort painted that colour before. Might be to dark a colour.

My name is Russell
The hilux diff is getting shortened to suit whatever mags i run thats why the next step is to find the wheels i want etc The front should be fine?
Brock-Lee
I dont think they are specifically suited to jap cars, they are just another take on that classic minilite type wheel. They will look mean under some hardslammed 200rwkw bubblearched mk1 escort 2 door goodness. doit

kyteler
Apparently because your car isn't Japanese, you won't get shit for wanting 16's like I do I say go for it man.

Truenotch
I think they'd suit an escort, so long as they're wide enough for your bubbles . 16's are pretty dick and poos for tyres though... You could have a chance at getting second hand RA1 semi slicks from series 6 rx7 racers but apart from that you have to search through new tyres. 15's might be big enough for it? You'd have access to more sizes then.
My name is Russell
Yeah i think you could have a point there, i was just after 16's to fill the guards so there wasn't that "look mum i can fit my head between the guard and tire" appearance that bubble arch escorts are good at achieving. Your new wheel are amazing! ... Might have a look the feasibility of drilling the rears to 4 x 114.3 allot more options
Truenotch
Sportmax's would look pretty similar to the Simmons (minus the centre) I think. My wheels are 15x8 ~0 offset. 16's look like they fill arches pretty well, I think 15x8+ with a decent tyre on would look fine though.... So long as you slam it. 16's: Not sure, but WOW: IMO to fill the arches the most important thing is offset and slam.
My name is Russell
Yup yup yup Fully agree looking at that 2nd picture is making me realize i should stick with my initial plan, get some 3 piece mesh wheels flip em for heaps of dish then get them widened to the width required than slam the be jezas outta the thing! Lowness, power and dish are the three critical paths for this project! Wonder if they are 15's is so they look sweet!
Truenotch
Yeah man just get any 15" 2 or 3 piece wheels and get bands made to suit. Will work out about the same price as new sportmax's for a set if you find the right engineer, and the right donor centers.
My name is Russell
Dam just did a search for 4x14.3 and found these straight away! (below) these are what iv been looking for in 5x114.3 everywhere! So there is no problems doing that to 3 piece wheels that have had the centers welded like the below auction? Choice re studding of axles it is. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =221732546 Will it be easier to re stud the six studd or 5 studd hilux axles to 4x114.3 i wonder? Will have to get on Autocad and have a look.
Truenotch
^^^ Yeah get those. What PCD are 6 stud ones? I think someone told me 6 are easier to re-stud but never done it.
