Raizer
Ford FE3 from 1993 Ford Telstar front wheel drive with Mazda Cosmo 5 speed ... will look into it ... Run it past the boss engine decision maker gazzerath That's the direction I'm heading with my van now lol Oh yup yup, what sorth of power they make NA? "Japanese variants are tuned to produce anywhere between 140ps and 170ps depending on year" They came with 3 or 4 different cam grinds over the years too. Look out for one with an alloy sump as they have a way stronger forged crank rather than the normal cast crank found in the tin sump engines. Also look out for 1995-2003 Kia Sportage's, they have the FE engine but with RWD manifold and water set up etc, shit compression ratio and cams though
My name is Russell
Just had a quick lok at pick a part website looks like there are a truckload of the critters around. Mk1Mad
Ok. Been thinking about this/doing a bit of reading. 1st What cars are standard RWD twin cam. Figure standard nissan range ca etc as Gaz is doing. Then the UK people all do Vauxhall XE, but there aren't many of them in NZ. Then figure Duratec and Zetec converted with type 9 but starts to get pricy with bellhousing etc. How about... MX5 of some age. What have people heard about them? Seams that the best would be second generation (NB) with the BP-Z3 I4 engine and 5-speed gearbox. Then in future you could get a factory turbo engine (BPT I4) and it will fit right in on same mounts and can also get factory 6 speed gearbox. Let use know peoples thoughts, I know there is a lot of tuning parts readily available also. Escort with MX5 engine photoshopped/scissored in... P.S. I wont be replying much as don't live on a comp right now.
Unclejake
Ok. Been thinking about this/doing a bit of reading.1st What cars are standard RWD twin cam. . Don't forget the cheap as all fuck 1980s Alfa Romeos. Tempramental but very lovable engines when 'on song'.
Alfasprinter
+1 also fiat twin cams from 124/125 most powerful standard 2l is 130 hp. or convert to 16v head off lancia thema/delta or take delta integrale engine and convert to rwd and have lots and lots of POWA. alfa twin cams are the same from the 60s till the 150hp 75 twinspark which bolts up to early cars gearboxs (75 has transaxle in back). 156/147 twin sparks are based on fiat block and have 170hp as are the modern jts compression monsters. just my 2c i am biased to itallion stalions. i suggest you drive a good example of what ever car the motor you want is in, some which are usally mundane on paper may be really fun to drive like 68hp alfasud 1200tis what a rant
Gaz
1st What cars are standard RWD twin cam. In alot of cases it doesnt matter if it is RWD or FWD as other gboxs can bolt up pretty easy and other things are not majors to change. Case by case however. Then the UK people all do Vauxhall XE, but there aren't many of them in NZ. Check pick a part. This is the vectra engine isntit?? Then figure Duratec and Zetec converted with type 9 but starts to get pricy with bellhousing etc. You can use standard type 9 gbox and bellhousing. No need to buy expensive bellhousing. Very good option IMO if going NA... or the later model 2.3l duratec had some turbo models...$$$ tho How about... MX5 of some age. What have people heard about them?Seams that the best would be second generation (NB) with the BP-Z3 I4 engine and 5-speed gearbox. Then in future you could get a factory turbo engine (BPT I4) and it will fit right in on same mounts and can also get factory 6 speed gearbox. This is what Chris was going to put in the orange mk2. A BPT or B6T.. already turbo and bolt straight up to the mx5 RWD gbox. Easy to do and cheapish engine. Heaps of info in his mk2 build bout this I think. Gaz
Nah dont let others decide what engine you want to run. Waste of time. Just wait for something to pop up cheap and get it if you have money at the time.. Your a wee way off an engine anyways. I wouldnt go down the Nissan route, too expensive for RWD Nissan engines, maybe the CA I dunno. Toyota is a good possiability

_esKYmo_
how much for ya hotwires? 4 with 4 tyres? much tread?
My name is Russell
Not sure what they worth, make me an offer. Need to double check they are 8inch wide tonight. Three have eager's on them, one at which is popped and the other two basicly tread-less, and the 4th mag has no tyre as in pic. Could prob polish them up nicely, they are really light, lighter than my superlights i would say.

mikuni
I'm not sure if its been mentioned here yet but there is an NB Mazda MX5 engine and box combo for sale on trademe. Its at $1300 currently but not sure what reserve is. Thats what I would be looking towards as it looks like a tidy little combo with a lot of the hard work already done.
