  1. how much does a 1UZ weigh, anyway? I was wondering about the relative merits of that vs a 5cyl turbo volvo donk.
  2. inspired work, using those e34 flares. where did you discover the bodylines matched with the e30? brilliant! love to know how much material you remove before welding them on. any progress on your powerplant selection? here's some swedish options: * B234FT or FTX - about 190hp, * B5234T from the 850-T5, 5cyl 225hp 300nM and a TD-04. or B5254T from the S60/V70 I'm sure there's plenty of length in the bay for the 5cyl, and the song it makes is addictive. Not a lot of info on RWD conversions, though the second link has useful info on adapting to volvo 240's and they recommend the Tremec T5 transmission. From what I've seen, you've the skills to do the machining for the adaptor! +1 on 'keep up the good work'. watching this one with interest. EDIT: oh here we go - e30 T5 build thread
  3. curious, given at the time nobody would have driven an RX7 on steels. hell, it's not a commodore!
  4. yeah ditto, a genuine milestone. congrats!
  5. I'm wit Ky - I think the faccy grille and tail panel colour is good.
  6. sorry mate didn't see this earlier. clan mackinnon. and yes, I thought that (right part of the puzzle at right price takes time) was a rather entish approach; just read it in the voice of the Ents from LOTR! #8 )
  7. nowt wrong with that. I see the new census forms even account for number of cars - including those off the road but will be on again soon...
  8. looking sharp. did you end up sorting out the prodigious thirst?
  9. have you tried the volvospeed RWD forum? http://volvospeed.com/vs_forum/forum/7-rwd/ I've always found the appropriate FWD forum on VS a great source of info for my 850. HTH
  10. man, those are $250 swimsuits. they're something else - the KKomodore will make a great prop.
  11. you be needing big mutton-chop homo-grips to go with it too. sweet ride, I totally rebuilt a raleigh sports with my Dad when I was 12, learned a heap from him. I still remember dropping it in the skip at the transfer station ten years later, had no space to store it and nobody had clicked on back then how uber cool these are.
  12. man, that sounds like it would have made good video!
  13. the X7 250s were popular in club production in the early 80's, relatively close to the RD250's... until the RD250LC came along and rendered the X7 almost redundant. ISTR mates back in the day running meths through the exhausts (shaking, prodding, extraction of lumps of carbon with wire), and then hanging on the clothesline in the sun to dry out. re-installing and finding untimely mono's following re-discovery of 15-20 hp. YMMV; proceed with caution. loving your GT200 project, its great to see old 2-stroke twins on the road.
  14. thanks for moving it over! - I've deleted the post from your build thread. or in niu zild you could try these guys http://www.speed.co.nz/page.php?pid=16
  15. uber-flock! you'll blend in nicely with the dash, now.
  16. sorry Ned, perhaps you're channeling kiwi ingenuity whilst wearing clogs #8 )
  17. +1, cool work. kiwi ingenuity! video supports your suggestion that a smaller belt is called for #8 )
  18. again - not sure about nissans, it has done on my BM.
  19. yes agreed, usually there is a faccy spec for coils and test detailed. sounds like nissan dealer spinning black magic story. I'd have expected the cel to produce sufficient detail as to which cyl has the misfire - my 02 BMW certainly does. have you an OBDII checker? perhaps you could read the codes for her.
  20. you're scotsman (and women) - not Ents! we scotsmen share one firm belief; that money is flat, and meant to be piled up. #; )
