Popular Post DoBro Jesus
So i picked this up a while back, fella was getting rid of it because it was it was his daughters car but one day the rear sway bar mount snapped clean off on the left side, so was practically giving it away at 50 bucks! Shot down to oamaru and grabbed it, rego on hold. Becoming quite rare now with the 123hp 4g61, Mitsubishi's competitor to the 16 valve 4age, and 5 speed Manwell. Basically I'm going to try and make a fun track car with minimal money, even in stock form it shoots round corners pretty well and the motor is nice and revvy. No speed demon by any means but still pulls along nicely. Picked up a cheap seat, unfortunately it's not fixed back but if a cheap fixed back one pops up I'll swap em over. Mounted up to the factory rails with a few mods but not happy with how high it sits though so will have to come up with something there. Ordered a set of "low" springs today as superlows aren't a thing for these. Also have been talking with one of the guys here who does the 2kcup and he's hooking me up with a near new dunlop direzza z11 as that's the control tyre for that class, so ordered another one today so I'll run them up the front as I can't afford a full set at the moment, got a pair of yokohama S drives for the rear, they seem to have pretty good reviews online so that should do for the rear. Thankfully it actually runs mint and drives well, clutch will probably need doing in the future but still bites well for now. 4 wheel disc brakes as well so brakes pretty well, dunno how I'll go getting high performance pads for it though being a bit of an obscure model. My boss also had heaps of old stickers so we stickered it up for a laugh haha. Also has a pretty sweet set of 14s that I'll try tidy up and get rid of the shitty black spray paint job too.

DoBro Jesus
Got my dobis on friday and fitted them up on sat, quite happy with the amount of slam I got for just "low" springs, back could come down a little more but the front came down nicely! Picked up my direzzas today too! I also have an e33a galant with the dohc 4g63 so thought I'd out them side by side and see what galant goodies would go on the mirage. Quite surprised that the mirage runs the exact same brakes all round as the galant. Thought they were quite big for a little car. Good nonetheless, mirage has a 54mm throttle body whereas galant has a 60mm so may look at small performance mods like that down the line
Pelo.
Thats a random and unusual choice for a Track car. It looks fun! I had a 96 mirage hatch with i think the same motor and it went hard for what it was. So nimble! 2kcup won't allow mods like throttle and brake upgrades so keep that in mind. DoBro Jesus
Yeah I'd do reversible mods like that so I could take it back to stock if I did end up doing 2kcup. Probably not worth doing anyway be minimal gains. Yeah haha I like to be different and the fact it was basically free had a part to play! But yeah It does go quite well, definitely a fun little car. CUL8R
Lol do you think they would pick up on a 60mm throttle body that looks Mitsubishi OEM over 54mm, on his well used Mirage vs the guys that have fresh "rebuilt" motors - fully caged and 10x the dollars invested in them? The same guys that put brand new springs, struts and expensive bumpstops in for each incremental advantage over the rest?

I think it was invented for people to have fun on the cheap, but it seems people are investing so much money into it now that it's defeating the initial purpose of it. May as well call it the levin/trueno cup as well.

DoBro Jesus
Minor update, horied up the end of the exhaust to get rid of the muffler. Being a Sunday, nowhere was open to get exhaust tubing so had to piece together offcuts that I could find around the workshop Hahaha, works though.
DoBro Jesus
So this died a few months back going to the shops, so suspected fuel pump. So it's been sitting round doing nothing, but bought some cheap coilovers for the rear which looked like they'd fit up going by measurements, so fitted them up, but the one crucial measurement I forgot to get was the length haha, so yeah it slammed it to the point of it being undriveable Then decided to throw the 4g63 from the galant in for shits and giggles, and put fuel pump from that in also, now its back up and running and running 2 litre POWAHHH. Very straightforward swap, looms are the same so only had to swap ECUs and a few linkages and mounts as I kept the galant gearbox on the '63 as well. Definitely goes a lot better now, though not as rev happy.

SiRge
Those shocks look perfect. Now re-tub the rear to suit. Weekend job.
