chris r Posted July 15, 2024 Author Posted July 15, 2024 Turbo could sit there and look cool But doesn't leave enough space for a intercooler, or down pipe and it'll roast the ac compressor pretty quickly I may have to spin the turbo so the inlet is on the radiator side. Will make charge piping interesting. Couple of people in the states have made it work that way 2 Quote

yoeddynz Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 Mount the turbo at the back of the car. Use the length of alloy pipe heading forwards as intercooler. Embrace the lag. 1 Quote
chris r Posted July 21, 2024 Author Posted July 21, 2024 I'm away with work again but threw the bumper back on to check clearance for intercooler before I left. Found a 460x230x52 cire. Overall 600 ish wide but I can tuck in one tank in a bit and might have to chop/trim the other side. Any taller and I'll have to re make or trim the bumper support or have it poking through the bumper which I'm not a fan of. Once it arrives I'll test fit it along with radiator/condenser and have another crack at the manifold 1 Quote
Raizer Posted July 21, 2024 Posted July 21, 2024 There's a manifold design that would most likely solve your packaging issues... 5 1 2 Quote

chris r Posted July 26, 2024 Author Posted July 26, 2024 Unbuilt mk1 manifold Did what I thought about the first time and made some brackets to hold the flange in position where the turbo (just) clears everything Fitted to the other motor as its easier to work on Sat the nice sinco collector on and there's no way that's fitting without lots of butchery Figured I'd try a little mini ram style manifold I'll need to make bit of a ugly collector but if log manifolds work and make power a less than perfect collector will also be okay Realised at the end of the day there's no rocker cover gasket so I've probably filled the head with schmutz Intercooler arrived and mostly fits. I'll have to stop being precious and will need to trim a bit of the bumper. One end tank will need to be modified but I'll see what angle I can get away with clocking the housing 4 Quote
chris r Posted August 3, 2024 Author Posted August 3, 2024 Saw zebra had a ef Civic so grabbed a spare bonnet slam panel and lower rad support to replace the one that's on the car and slightly sad. Also got a battery tray incase making a sealed enclosure in the boot ends up in the too hard basket And did a couple of things on the orthia. Finally got around to replacing the broken door handle Saw someone parting out a prelude and it didn't have the ugly cruise control buttons so grabbed a spare steering wheel for the shroud Much cleaner now without the buttons 4 Quote
chris r Posted August 20, 2024 Author Posted August 20, 2024 Boring daily maintenance update. Replaced the trans fluid with liquid moly stuff and found the crush washer I ordered and forgot to install last time. That hopefully had fixed the weep I thought was a axle seal on the trans. I've noticed a small bit of oil sitting on the transmission and corner of the head gasket and kept cleaning and ignoring it. Finally had a look and it was distributor o ring. Finally got around to replacing it so that should be fixed now 2 Quote

It will be sweet. Just snip the ends off those elbows so they can all fit onto the flange and bobs ya vagene 1 Quote
chris r Posted September 4, 2024 Author Posted September 4, 2024 The orthia is now on marketplace. I've got my eye on another car which is most likely a stupid daily and a liability but where's the fun in that 7 Quote
chris r Posted September 18, 2024 Author Posted September 18, 2024 Orthia has been sold and will be on its way to the new owner at some point this week. New daily has been acquired (E500 merc wagon) 3 Quote
chris r Posted November 8, 2024 Author Posted November 8, 2024 Got lucky at zebra the other day and a concerto had come in, same ac lines as other ef Civic stuff but it's a concerto so noone wants bits off it. Got the un cut factory lines and reciever drier mount so I don't have to run my welded mess. Found a new reciever drier locally too https://imgur.com/a/AFYji47 3 Quote
Popular Post chris r Posted May 25, 2025 Author Popular Post Posted May 25, 2025 Collected the beagle from storage last week Mixed feelings this morning. I finally sold the beagle to a guy who's been very patiently waiting. Good to have one less car and the logistics surrounding it but the hoarder wants to keep it 12 3 Quote
Popular Post chris r Posted June 9, 2025 Author Popular Post Posted June 9, 2025 I needed the carport for the musso marathon so plugged enough of the old loom in to run and it started up on some extremely stale fuel. It's sitting on the lawn now waiting to go back into the carport, in the spirit of actually getting it progressed and trying to avoid more scope creep I'm not going to do the fancy twisted loom and go for the braided sheathing or flexi conduit like factory 10 Quote
chris r Posted June 10, 2025 Author Posted June 10, 2025 I totally forgot that there are limited 15" wheel options that clear the 282mm prelude brakes I've got on the front the shuttle so didn't click when I put the teddies on so that's a win. Just need to find some cert legal tyres so I can get it certed in both the teddies and the buddy clubs 3 Quote
chris r Posted September 12, 2025 Author Posted September 12, 2025 Was looking for something else in my hoard under the house and found the manual steering rack bracket that'll work with the manual rack properly. Of course past me put it in the box of silicone piping clamps and intercooler piping that makes total sense Found by box of an fittings and other stuff too which is nice Mrs is away for a week with work so I've taken a week off too. I've got long list I want to accomplish on the shuttle so will see how much I can get done Pull old ending and fit built engine Make new loom - figure out where I want the Mac valve to live and wire that. Figure out where the ac pressure switch will go and if that needs to go with the tucked body loom or if I can fit it with the engine stuff somewhere Find the new higher flow fuel pump in hoard. Replace the existing fuel pump and check the height so it doesn't surge at less than 1/2 a tank Install new prettier fuel hoses Drill and tap fuel rail to suit fuel pressure reg as I ordered the wrong one ages ago (or drill rail to suit the manifold) Redo rear section of exhaust with new muffler and tips Relocate the battery back in to the engine bay as it was in the boot but to make like easier for cert it's going back up front Front section of exhaust - see if bigger resonator will fit in the tunnel along with the driveshaft Replace lower rad support Remove broken bolt off bonnet hinge Empty all the hoard of stuff out and try and organise it Swap manual steering subframe in Aircon Condenser outlet hose/line to reciever drier Intake/charge piping Make progress on the churbo manifold Possibly start on churbo dump pipe, see if I can squeeze a 3" but most likely end up with 2.5" as there isn't much space at all Find out all the bushes I replaced probably 10 years ago are fucked and order new ones Ignore the requirement for driveshaft loops and have to redo exhaust as there's fuck all space to fit it all The goal is to atleast get the built motor running non turbo so I can either take it to the dyno to get run in or just thrash it around no reg no wof lots of worries I'm living firmly in denial that the bores are mint after sitting for about 10 years and the cam /head are good after sitting for 4ish Would be nice to get some colour match paint in a rattle can and tidy the bay up a bit but I've had the car 16 years and in the interest in actually getting it running and on the road that shit can wait Atleast I've got a head start (heh) on removing the old engine. Beagle shit the timing belt and bent a valve on the owner so I gave him this head to get it going again I'm probably about to get a reminder on how little space this bay as and how heavy the awd gearbox is and it'll probably have to be dropped out the bottom 3 Quote
chris r Posted September 13, 2025 Author Posted September 13, 2025 Mate came around today and gave me a hand pulling the old motor out of the shuttle and dragging the new one out of the shed Need to find where I left the an fitting for the turbo drain and if it's not sideways raining tomorrow I'll weld it in Subframe is rusty and yuck from the old leaky master cylinder so will swap that for the manual steering subframe and lower km rack before the engine goes back in. Will reuse the old gearbox for now as the other one isn't ready yet 6 Quote
