Threeonthetree
It's ready for some rust work now. I was going to do the bare minimum to get it back on the road but might do it all properly while it's apart.

Threeonthetree
Colour? aint none of them new fangled TV's! Proper repair? New Tech? Whatchu talkin' 'bout Willis?!? I might have found some well priced windscreen seals and since the front window is halfway out, I might as well pull it out and fix the rust around that area properly. And seal up the plenum area.

Mayte, your jacking that back of the car up because oldschool So you've got to repair the rust in the period way. I'm sure that goes like this: Poke rust with screwdriver until at solid metal Cover hole with mesh? Cover mesh with bog Paint. Tadah no more rust! Threeonthetree
Oh lawdy! I should post some pictures of the Morris Oxford wagon we stripped and scrapped. The sills were both completely filled with concrete! The tailgate was made of wood nailed to the rusty steel and then bogged over. Holes in the chassis were stealthily covered up with pop riveted tin. Ben tapped the left front guard with a hammer and ended up wrist (and hammer) deep in a gaping hole.

flyingbrick
Sealing up that plenum is what I wish to do too (when I get my ass into gear) I'll modify a grille/make one in glass tho.
Threeonthetree
Holden ones are pretty bad too. Are you going to remove the metal cowl/grille panel and cover it with glass then re-install it? I'm going to retain the factory grilles on all of my cars except the Valiant as it is by far the worst in terms of design and current condition. sheepers
you might wanna talk to clint about the downsides to this before you do it.
Threeonthetree
This is true. I have an idea of what the consequences will be but nothing beats first-hand experience.
cletus
the fart retention system? probably not so bad in a wagon, but in a ute, the lack of air flow and no carpet was a bit unpleasant/hot at times
Threeonthetree
That doesn't seem so bad but I can see why it would have been in the confines of a ute. When I cut the plenum open I'll be able to see the extent of the rust and will make a decision from there.
