KKtrips
Does anyone know if a W56 4WD is the same as a 2WD minus a transfer case adapter? I bought a W56 from Nelson and only found out on arrival that it is a 4WD case - but looking at the picture below it would appear they are the same except the tailshaft housing/transfer case adapter. Shakotom
Unhelpful post, but you should find a transfer box and build a early commodore version of the VZ adventura

Take the transfer case off it KK and see how its connected to the gearbox tailshaft

KKtrips
I looked and looked and looked last night on the internet for some info but it was conflicting or opinion rather than hard facts. This morning I search at work and it's the first link I click on is exactly what I want. http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/toyota-truck-4runner/586967-converting-w55-4x2-transmission-into-w56-4x4.html So the answer is no it won't work because the output shaft is wrong. Cheers for the help guys. Gold stars and smiley face stamps for all of you. The main shafts are very different in length - RATS!
