Truenotch Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Hiring and borrowing trailers sucks gaytime. Why is this not in the regular projects section? Quote
xsspeed Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Hiring and borrowing trailers sucks gaytime. Why is this not in the regular projects section? He didnt want to upset me/spur is my ae82 oldschool questions for speeno Quote
Sambo Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 He basically went over the whole car looking for cert failures, plus driveshaft hoops, gearbox xmember touching exhaust, made up an airbox rah rah. Basically a whole bunch of real little stuff that would have taken me another 6 months. Yeah, now it's just a washer bottle and high stop light for WOF I think. And cert obviously. Quote
Sambo Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 Huh, there you go then. I do want them eventually though. Quote
advokit Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 Looking good man. What rear end are you running? Quote
Sambo Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 Cheers man, its running a Te71 disk braked t series. Same as 86 but without the convenient swinging calipers, gotta take it right off to do the pads. Same mounts and everything though. Quote
Roman Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 Good progress man! Will be good to see this out and about some time. Quote
advokit Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Sweet! I really wanted a TE71 but I think most have them have turned to dust. Quote
Truenotch Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Is it running the right injectors for the smallport ecu? Bluetop injectors are a different impedance and make them run rich, but should still drive OK. My AW initially ran like that and always puffed black smoke, but went well (could still beat B16A Civics in a drag race). Could be the TPS, does it hunt at idle? Normally it won't matter too much if you mix and match different tps' s. Quote
Sambo Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Oh hey! I'm still on the hunt for a TPS (haven't started looking). I'm not sure which injectors it's running, I'll have a look in the next couple of days. Do you know what colour is correct for the smallport? Quote
flyingbrick Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 on the up side.... Those things are easy to change. Quote
advokit Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 What the hell? Its the factory position for the brake lines? New UJs and make sure driveshaft bolts are correctly torqued and it should never let go behind the 4age. Some certifiers are painful. Out of interest what else did they pull you up on? Im interested as I will have to go through this process also. Quote
Sambo Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Got pulled up on a few wof things, gearbox x member, running rich, loose wires/plugs in the interior and maybe seat mounts. Apparently bride seat rails aren't up to snuff these days. Quote
advokit Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Wow bride seat rails no good either? Sounds like this guy doesn't trust quality Japanese engineering. Im pretty sure Toyota and Bride both know what they are doing when it comes to mass producing stuff...... Quote
Sambo Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 I suspect he doesn't. His reasoning for the loose wires was "hot rodders wouldn't leave it like this". Quote
Chris.QCR Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 That's a shame man . Sounds erg much like a close minded hot rodder ! Quote
