yetchh
Nah, not that shit.. can anyone recommend me a good reasonably priced chromer here in crimeschurch.. do they normally strip them then chrome or do I have to clean then up first?.. cheers
Valiant
Escort Metal Polishers will prep and get it chromed. The finished product is very good. Or pm Dat610? word on the street is he may be able to help with the plating.

KKtrips
Talk to Datto610 (Greg) - pretty sure his business is plating - not sure if it's only anodising and zinc or if he does the full monty.. But he is in Christchurch and I'm sure he will have the downlow on the right people if he can't..
Valiant
I couldn't say for a pulley. I did get a set of 16"bmx forks done a couple of months ago, $100. Best bet is to go and see them. Probably.

CUL8R
^ Greg can plate but really dislikes doing it - due to effort involved for decent finish (the better the prep the better the finished result) Superb plating works are cheap. But yea escort metal polishers, otherwise for show quality, shineybits (?) in Timaru are the ticket.

I think Escort do the prep and send it to Shiny Bits. You coming to Hanmer? By that I mean you ARE coming to Hanmer.
RUNAMUCK
Your best bet is to talk to greg, get him to dechrome your parts, then get Gary Able (Abel metal polishers) to polish the fuck out of them. Then go back to Greg and get him to rechrome the parts. Greg see's a lot of polished stuff, and he swears and declares that Gary's stuff is the best work. yetchh
Half of the stuff won't need polishing as its piping.. got a small budget for it.. You coming to Hanmer? By that I mean you ARE coming to Hanmer. You mean me?
RUNAMUCK
If you're gonna chrome stuff that isn't polished, you may as well get it zinc plated. Chrome without a pre plating polish will look like it came out of someones arse.

datto_610
Spose I better jump in here as my name is being thrown around a bit! I do the full monty indeed. Zinc, Nickel, Chrome and Aluminium anodising. It all really does depend on the look you are after. Chrome does come up a lot better if polished but if its clean enough to start with can come up ok without just won't get rid of deep scratches etc zinc can also be pretty shiny if its not a haggerd as fuck piece of steel and will also give better rust protection against chrome plating. I wouldnt give anything to Escort to strip as it will most likely come into my work and they probably put a fee on top of what we charge. For a better idea on price just come into my work: Chch Metal Finishers on Kingsley St Sydenham. Hope that helps. Ps don't ask me for prices as I only do the plating side of things not the pricing etc. Also if it has paint on it please try and remove it as we don't have the means to at the moment. noel
I've seen alot of good work from Shiny Bits in Geraldine so I sent my own bumpers there. Was very happy with the result and will be sending more parts there. Can't remember pricing now (alcohol) but was not over the top.
RUNAMUCK
shiney bits really come into their own with their own with their finishing. My dad has some irreplaceble Imperial chrome repaired by them. They're ninja's witth ttheir lead-ing/solder filling of shit. Some of dads chrome was completely fisted, and they fixed it. Some of it, he took back for redoing. They did it for free, but for the initial job, they liberated him of a considerable wad of fun coupons.
