Mattt
My crown one has 2 self tappers on each side screwed into holes drilled on the inside of the pillar where the door sits. Looks like its been this way since the dawn of time.
tortron
I have used both the clamps and self tappers both work swell and no wof issues

Mattt
If you have access to a rivnut tool and some 4/5mm rivnuts then it will be a much more professional job. But who am I kidding, this is oldschool
flyingbrick
problem is rivnuts need a huge hole drilled compared to a self tapper. could be too big should the wof guy decide to be A cunt. also, if put a rivnut into a curved pannel it can distort things or pull through during tensioning if not carefull. just food for thought
Steelies
from my experience at work, and being hory with my cars, i've found riv nuts and self tappers are two of the worst ways to attach things that are constantly vibrating during use! Toucan
I'd certainly avoid drilling into pillars, thats asking for trouble, plus self tappers are yuck. Bend up some old alloy to hug the gutters
Jase
clamp, or welded on button head cap screw as a stud
Bling
Pretty sure my old Corona had the aerial screwed to the A pillar from factory. Have seen it done on many other cars too. Was one place that rust wasn't an issue. So if you do drill, put some sealant on the screw / hole to keep moisture out.
