Waikato meet n show to public

Ok guys i have been chatting to a few of you and like me you are sick of being labeled "Boy Racers", so how about we set up a big display somewhere like down at the lake to show the public we are not racers but Old School Car Owners. i mean something from 10am - 3pm on a sunday.

I will arrange a spot by the lake or similar for us to put on a show of our cars, those on the road - project cars - race cars etc, drive it there, tow it, trailer it only if there is enough support. We want all the local and as many out of town cars there on show, dosnt matter if its a rough one or show car we want all sorts of old school cars on display.

Ill bring my classic and race car, my daughters classic and a few others so who is up for this.

Not sure of date as yet and it can only happen if there is enough support.

So are YOU up for a display to show who we are and what we are ?????

Well you dont have to come....its an old school meet as it states above, and if nobody wants it then no prob.

But i dont realy see anyone else tryn to sort out a decent local meet n greet.

If you guys want this to happen then post it here, im more than happy to do it but people need to be there for it to be worth doing.

We've been running the Hamilton / Waikato monthly meets for a long while now, however due to declining interest we had all but scrapped it.

As such it wasn't a "show the public" kind of meet, more so meet more forum members within the area. The last one in November had only Mikuni, his missus and I. We then put it on hold while everyone was away on holiday / moved to different cities.

I have been planning on reviving the monthly meet sometime mid Feb, by which time everyone should be back in the swing of things and hopefully a bit more interest will be shown.

It's great you're showing interest, so hopefully we'll be able to get a bit more participation and have a decent meet again.

Thanks Chaps, for putting forward some ideas and showing some enthusiasm towards getting something happening in the Waikato again.

As we are struggling a little for numbers locally at the moment, it's probably not a bad idea to either keep the meets based around a members catch up, or tack onto another groups event.

One good suggestion that was made to me recently was that of a local car club who seems to run an "all welcome" type of thing at the cock and bull occasionally. I think it is the last Thursday of every month, but I could be mistaken. They run anything from F series pickups to kombis and escorts, so should be happy for us to attend? Thoughts and feedback?

Keep the ideas coming guys. Cheers

Makes me sad that my car is so far from being complete.. I would love to bring it to something and offend all who behold it, but the logistics of moving it etc are such that it'd cost more than I'd spend on booze at a pub or bread for feeding ducks at the lake.

does anyone of authority want me to see if i do have contacts?

Anyone of authority? That sounds very serious. Could you perhaps just check if it would be ok for another 'club' to roll along at some point, and if cars that are not necessarily classics are ok to turn up also?

I don't think it will be an issue, but it would be good to get a foot in the door anyway.

its bbq season just roll to peoples houses burn meats have quiet brew/shandy's and so forth.

I can't stand being in a rowdy pub like cock and balls,

i'd rather sit on my arse on someones lawn.

dinsdale tavern is where its at tbh parking out back out of sight of the public and in sight of the owners,

none the less whatever they always fall on my days on at work anyway
