My name is Russell
Just had my leaves reset, the guy told me two things; Instead of adding a second leave if you remove the shims that go betweens the leaves you will increase the friction between them, therefore the added friction gave the same results as adding an extra leaf. (I presume not all leaves have them but my escorts ones did.) OT but he also said the front bush should be rubber not nolothane as it assists with the way the leaves work in some way, cant remember exactly ... if only i hadn't purchased nolothanes all round the day before What about some good quality aftermarket shocks? My name is Russell
i dont see it/im blind there is a shock of a mini attached to the body and axle rather than just the leafspring Is this not normal? i thought all leave sprung cars had shock absorbers to assis with dampering? drftnmaz
what are you trying to acive? just stiff so you can go low low? or trying to make it handle? i run reset leafs with a upside down half leaf on the front of the pack and also run overload leaf to keep it stiff for drifting/low low http://img96.imageshack.us/i/leaf2g.jpg/
RT
take one leaf off the bottom, turn it upside down and put it on the top Do NOT do this. I nearly killed myself doing this. It's a stupid thing to do.
Simon
I guess it depends on how your leaf is constructed. Im thinking about just clamping more leafs under mine as i only have one haha! Springs with lots of leaves do have an internal friction but that wont help much for increasing the stiffness. More so sock absorption because the friction force only really comes into play when the leaves are rubbing against each other rather than just static. I dont know if there is an easy and safe way to get the spring a lot stiffer and lower in your case if you have already added a leaf. xsspeed
What car is that? The Corona? Theres driveshafts in that serpentine live axle?
sheepers
in the olden days they used to bind the leaves by tightly wrapping lots and lots of rope/string type shit around the leaves to increase the internal friction between the leaves. this works, but youll need to have more that one leaf sheepers. Simon
What car is that? The Corona?Theres driveshafts in that serpentine live axle? haha na Im also on a handling mission. Note front wheel camber in relation to the rear. I think the rear is 0. The theory is if i can go faster round corners, i dont have to speed up again after them = save fuel.
