CUL8R Posted February 28, 2009 Share Posted February 28, 2009 Righto, basically scored myself a Cressida - but has a punctured fuel tank Derby car so needs to be able to withstand severe whacks The hole is basically the size of $2 coin (just a tad smaller).. Whats the go on fixing them? Im not stupid enough to even think about welding it, so epoxy/cold solder? Simon Posted February 28, 2009 Share Posted February 28, 2009 Iv welded a few tanks, I drain them and take the pump out then stick a hose from the exhaust pipe of a car down the filler hole and let it push out all the petrol fumes and also fill the tank with carbon dioxide. Let the car idle for like 5-10 mins pumping carbon dioxide into the filler pipe and out the pump hole. Never had one blow up. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

forced Posted February 28, 2009 Share Posted February 28, 2009 I fixed the tank in the Z. Flushed it out, used detergent. Did it several times, then filled with water, turned upside down with the filler on . Didn't weld it but brazed a patch over the rotten part after grinding it to clean it up.
