capri v6

Previous racecar had 3l Essex in it. Revved like fuck. Caution is required in the oil pump drive as it is a hex drive from bottom distributor gear. Have tendency to round off. Also have a tendency for soft valve springs. Makes em easy as to valve bounce......Parts are available but a wait time may ensue. Good engine otherwise

My dad's Capri has the Essex V6. Goes alright, quite torquey and sounds nice and revvy for a stock engine. I don't think you'd have too much trouble finding bits, modified bits maybe a bit harder to come by?

My Gem coupe + slightly worked 2l took down my dad's Capri though. I had to give him shit about that!

I thought that the essex v6 was woefully short on main bearings, so revving it could easily stuff the crank. Also rather heavy - Roger Clark was a bit dismissive of a Mk.1 escort 3 litre they tried due it's general dislike of going round corners.

Dunno how they got the crank behaving with the quad cam versions though...

^ Four mains I think (which would be about right for a double three cylinder) and I can't see any good reason to go out and find, recondition and fit a heavy old lump of cast iron engine when there are so many other better (and probably cheaper) options available - unless you wanted to retain a spiritual connection to the vehicle's origins.

could be.....could be.

been offered one with a v6 in it..must be the 3L..

has forged pistons and something a rather rods in it.

done 8 meetings since it was rebuilt.

would look at doing rings and bearings..

what kind of mains bearings can you get other than stock ones?

probably just run it till it dies and put a EL/EA falcon 6 in it.
