Guest vvega
Those Star cars that run the bike engines (mini falcon/commodore bodied race cars) use a starter motor mounted on the diff with teeth cut into the brake disc for reversing. However for a road car you would want something a little more substantial. Maybe look at parts from a PTO winch, Lancruiser style?Callum or use a fluid coupling...then you just hit a switch and 6 gears backward.. Mike-e
as for me im a total homo so get fucked. that bike engine almost went into a fronte but the fronte was absolutely annihilated or im a pussy. it will have a home, its just waiting for its time. pete, jesus, its no different really from mounting any engine into a car, if not easier because its more compact, the mounts are usually just 3 through bolts, not unlike fwd rear/front gearbox mounts. theres always the issue of reverse, but whatever your putting a bike engine into if you've got half a brain its easy enough to just push backwards anyway. Just dont get anything air cooled or chain drive - still doable just more engineering involved. would be so sweet putting into a tiny van, would put my engine into a carry slash hijet if one cropped up in a second. mid mount the shit out of it. Motor bike gearsets are so sweet for sequential steez, never used to use the clutch on any of the bikes i've driven apart from taking off. harden the fuck up australia
Mike-e
also if your mega awesome for the gear shifter you can make a gay paddle style shifter with some internals out of a dewalt cordless drill
Rusted
Hayabusa motor, Firkin expensive. GSXR1100, GSF1200 are less then half the price. I found a complete GSXR1100 engine for $1200 when I was looking into building a Bike powered Charade. It was the complete custom rear end setup that blew up any dreams of building the car. eke_zetec_RWD
well hmm yourll prolly find that with teh bike revs and teh stupidly low diff yourll have a 100 km/h first gear the one we certed was tappd in 6th and goin slow as (like 160) so it needed a new diff ratio. kill two birds with one box

Seedy Al
or use a fluid coupling...then you just hit a switch and 6 gears backward.. Explain the use of a fluid coupling to me in the term of this application, like, what would it be used for in its most normal application, Oviuosly the only fluid coupling I know of is a Auto/ torque converter style, Are we talking Air Craft parts? stuff A

Yeah those were my thoughts too. Also as its chain drive and not prop drive. Gas tank is in the front, so i'm not sure what the certers would say about that. frontal impact regs and all.
