mikuni
Yah, Toyota Lexus 1UZ-FE... lol ignorance is an understatement if you haven't heard of that engine before but I do really admire your commitment to boganism. Good effort ps I say continue on with the 350 chev They are relatively compact engines so it shouldn't be too hard to get in there.
Goat
And theres like 1 billion bolt on parts for the 350's so getting more power is relativly cheap
CaMpylobacter
can buy a mint 1uz, trans, loom and ecu for roughly the same price as a fucked 350 with jaded history.

An electronically controlled auto box, a fuel injected engine and an ecu?! Whats an ecu?! Carbed 350 chev with turbo 350 behind it. Done. rofls
_esKYmo_
alright alright im not too much of a bogan. yes i had a matty b escort panelvan and yes a 350 chev is on the cards, but it is a joint project with a mate who would fuck a v8 if noone was watching and he had a spare moment. he loves em thru and thru SO.... with that being said, we are sizing it up tonight and by the looks of it it will be a squeeze but should work. we plan to take our time with this bad boy and do it over a year or so as you know the brakes suspension driveline, pretty much every fucken thing in the car needs to be upgraded to handle the torque
EURON8
and by the looks of it it will be a squeeze but should work. : thats me and rot808 thought about our rover v8 into lada conversion. things started to get tight real quick. the further we got engine and gearbox into the engine bay the more stuff it hit on. now we have no steering or break booster. we have to rangi the break master back to the pedal without booster and install a steering rack. And we have no intention of makin it road legal.

All alloy, quad cam V8 loveliness too, not some old cast iron pig of heaviness. That said the 350 Chev is relatively compact, especially as it doesn't have those tall DOHC heads to get in the way of stuff.

mikuni
yup, plus its what all the cool kids are doing I reckon you should get a custom belhousing like mr dori (I'm pretty sure thats what he's doing) and run a w55+ behind it, then just stick some dirty carbs on it oldschool style. Would be awesome as. I don't know what they use for the spark pulse but if its something tricky you could just run a dizzy off one of the belts, say power steering/air conditioning. Leebo3
Should go for a windsor, either 289 or 302, they are quite small and light. Not to hard to find parts for and pretty cheap to pick a semi decent one.
pies
just from past experience... 350 weighs only a couple of kilos more than a 13B. both with all bolt ons. 1UZ-FE weighs less than a
mikuni
350 weighs only a couple of kilos more than a 13B. both with all bolt ons. lol, I think you'll find super not. Even an EFI 13B Turbo weighs quite abit less than a 350. 1UZ is lighter though. And just as a side note, 2JZ engines are almost as much as a 350 chev for those that care :'(
Mr Revhead
the 350 stands for 350kg!!! my vote for the 289/302 windsor! compact, MORE parts for it than the chev, and a better design.
eke_zetec_RWD
dont be fulled by all the alloy of a 1uz for lightness, they quite heavy! manifolds, 4 cams, 32 valves, 6 bolt mains, steel crank ..... its fukn hard to find a 1uz with everything to use a standard ecu so usually a link is on the cards.... SYKOV6
a chev smallblock 283-400ci is roughly 600mm wide by 700mm long the widest point being the exhaust manifolds. the toyota v8 while being wider about 700 square lends itself to being fitted into a 'tighter'engine bay cause the widest point is the rocker covers. the exhausts are underneath. ie away from most things like steering/brake cylinders etc
