  1. 2.4 from a surf/Hilux was a very common and popular mod.Thats a 2L, the Y is petrol
  2. Had my one in my 2000 Corolla done 18 months ago. $80 job done by the mechanic. I'd much rather pay $80 than fuck around in my drive with cv shafts
  3. Exactly. That show was for all comers. TBH a car show for "cheap everyday classics" wouldn't really be viable. Costs to put these things on and in reality who is going to pay to come see what their dad drove? Hopefully next year more will turn up. I for one love seeing all the American Muscle. Still, you drive around on a sunday in Nelson and you see a heap of cars that were not there and should have been.
  4. I think next row towards gate from the minis. Might have only been two actually. One white with pnk air cleaners and a webasto roof
  5. Get that and the shell from chch and you have instant win! There were 3-4 MGBs in the show....
  6. Yeah saw you in the driveway. We really should sort ourselves out and have a meet. After I have figured out why the Chevette has start stuttering. I think it's getting vapour lock. Probably having a sulk as the Imp is now in the shed and it has to live in the car port!
  7. Only one I have seen! I spotted your Silvia. You are mad Yes it was her mothers apparently. If you want an Imp project there is a shell in Chch for 300..... Is primed and ready for paint. Mechanicals will not be hard to find.
  8. Ah you're the one with all the roof racks? I was impressed with the show. Was much bigger than last year. And there was an Imp!!! Next year I'll do my best to have 2 cars in it
  9. Will be along tomorrow. Didn't get around getting the Vauxhall in it. But it's only a Chevette
  10. Oh, easy to check the exhaust, will be leaving carbon deposits. And to check if its intake, while it's running spray some crc/brakekleen etc around the manifold. revs will increase if it's sucking in there
  11. Possibly if it's the intake. But if it is the intake I wouldn't think the noise would be as described. Yank that cover off and have a look. Is easy. Bonus you will get your hands dirty and get to use tools.
  12. I expect to see you replicating this at round abouts
  13. Between my daily, the Chevette, and 2.5 Imps I have no room for another car!!!
  14. Another +1 for the green bonnet to be refitted. Also I personally do not like more camber on rear than front. But yeah, am amazed at the condition! Awesome! Did you spot the cheap one on TM in mot late last year? I was tempted to look at it but decided I'd best not as I have no room/time/money for another car. I do loves trumpets
  15. Could try using this: http://www.toyodiy.com/ To look at the parts to spot the adjusters
  16. I've been meaning to go here: http://www.basisnz.com/index.pasp so maybe could tie that in? Also if you wanted to make a day of it and get wild there's the Omaka aircraft collection and car collection. But then we're getting away from the quick and easy cruise idea.
  17. Could also try the guys at Victory racing no other option works out.
  18. Heating up the cooling water would say to me your system is too small or inefficient. Different applications will differ but they don't need a lot of water to stay cool. I used a Subaru rad and exchanger on my AW11. Granted not super power and the lines front to back gave it a bit more capacity but even on a 30+ deg day and a back road thrash the intake was still cold to the touch and the exchanger the same. However I too would go for a A2A in a race car if allowed as the main benefit I feel in W2A is a more stable intake temp in vaired driving conditions. Whereas a race car only needs to work flat out with lots of air flow.
  19. Sounds like a good drive for the Chevette. Guess I should Wof and Reg it then!!!
  20. Lol a dirty shell on a trailer? I don't think so!
  21. Which show? must hook up! I'd like some photos of my Viva nest to an Imp or two, them being from similar period etc. This Warwick. Will he finish them or not? Bloody hope I do! Will get a lot more done when I shift the Chevette to the lock up and one of the Imps to garage at home. That's Januarys plan anyway! http://www.nelsoncarshow.com/ It's mildly average, but at least it's here! I'll have the Chevette in it
  22. No, it just means they have been lying around for a while. The squishy noise is the oil dispersed through the oil going through the valves. Stand them upright and work them a few times (like you would before you install new shocks) squishyness will go away and they will get firmer. If they were leaking you'd see oil
