Exactly. That show was for all comers. TBH a car show for "cheap everyday classics" wouldn't really be viable. Oh, easy to check the exhaust, will be leaving carbon deposits. And to check if its intake, while it's running spray some crc/brakekleen etc around the manifold. revs will increase if it's sucking in there

Possibly if it's the intake. But if it is the intake I wouldn't think the noise would be as described. Yank that cover off and have a look. Is easy. Bonus you will get your hands dirty and get to use tools.
