  1. go silver with a blue pearl with orange gt falcon stripes would look phat!!
  2. i did a large one in my chevy powered mk2 corty we cut the tunnel/firewall out droped the motor/ trans in then fabbed new steel in mate has a roller so we could roll it to the right shape
  3. dont know what bell housing i have i picked up a c4 trans and convertor for free all i know is its a v8 one whether its a 351 or 289/302 one i dont know bring it over one day and ill chuck it up against it to see
  4. the six cyl convertor wont do anything to the revs . but with the extra torque of the 8 it might/will turn it into a high stall as normally the convertor and engine are a matched pair using the wrong one can cause probs such as excess heat and heat is what kills trans . do u have an external trans cooler? . talk to ross about it if you cant stretch to a new convertor i have a v8 one u can borrow for a while till i build my c4 dave
  5. yeah thanx boys , yes it was kenny laprou if he ever wants to photo your car bro dont bother do it yaself cause hes shit the pics were shit all from the wrong angle the beast aint no show car but his pics showed every defect in it made it look like a shitta which we both know it isnt. on a lighter note how ya gettin on with your car is it goin with the v8 in it yet?
  6. prolly time i did an update have installed xf falcon stubs/discs/calipers as the 40 year old originals were very dodgy, also got sum new wheels they are 18x8.5 kmc jacks and fives. have also had the column shifter rebuilt as it was worn out and would jump out of park into reverse when idleing. have also fixed and refitted the dicky seat /armrest bewteen the front seats. have also fitted a new chrome air cleaner. 'petrol head' has approached me and wanted to take some pics for an article , i agreed and hopefully they will be in just b4 or just after xmas
  7. yep i do have to agree with u on the point of on gain Vs cost of transplant i was lucky with the v6 transplant i did was dealt off with a very talented engineer for some work on his house so it only cost $400 in total and cert in those days was $300. they do look and sound real fat with a big cam and triple carbs. had a look at a r33 skyline the other day with rb25 with hot cams and triple webber type throttle bodies sounded and looked cool and went good too by all accounts
  8. im glad u think positive like that bro. but just remember that those ultra reliable xu1s were bareley 200hp. having experiance with highly modded holden sixes and such like your 300hp beast will be good fun WHEN its going. triples never stay in tune long and a cam with enough guts to push a 3.3 to 300hp + will be a dog to drive anywhere but a race track. thus was the reason i went to the vn v6 14.2 @ 97mph on a stock motor and trans and 3.08 diff gears starts every time and got 30mpg on trips. throw in a good cam/headers and a remap and 12s coulda been the go. im not dissin ya bro just being practical thats why most torries had v8s put in em
  9. yella terra do a sweet alloy beast too . their gear really makes the old holdanga sixes go hard. was going down the same route as you b4 i fitted entire unit out of a vn.
  10. wat sorta head u usin brah? red style or later blue/black style
  11. it all depends on the engine i had a 3000 stall in the corty and it was mint prolly could have gone to a 4000 most of it depends on cam specs /diff gears etc. ya wouldnt go to a 3-4000 stall on a stocker it would make it a pig to drive but a high comp/ big cam /low diff gears would be happy as with one that loose.
  12. pretty sure 289/302/351w heads all same bro all interchangeable anyway later ones better au falc 80s heads low comp smog heads 60s ones all same
  13. yeah ditto on that but gives u an idea on what they are
  14. castlemaine rod shop does a kit for a capri i think dude they have a pic of a torrie one on the website under the chassis section
  15. youll prolly need some chassis connectors made up these link the front suspension with the rear spring mounts basically just a pice of 50x25 box bolted thru main suspension components tying the front and rear together. its common as in early [LC-LJ] torrie v8 conversions ill try and find sum pics
  16. sounds sweet man what are cam specs? what sort of ecu u running? what it owe you? 350hp should be pretty easy make the capri stand on its arse
  17. 302w right? what specs? rscort must just about have his motor ready for the cooon too
  18. is your speedo end clip on or screw on? the prob with the capri is its a pommy ford and your tryin to adapt aussie ford bits which are closer to the yankee fords. how you gettin on with ya conversion any pics?. ive always had a hankering for a v8 capri cool styling with raw power its quite primitive really
  19. sorry bro thought u were talkin about the speedo from a c3. u had a supra? how does the speedo attach to the toyota box? a ford manual box cable should be the same as the auto [threaded fitting on box end] not sure though dont know what sort of mods have been made to your cable to fit manual box. it may just be a case of getting one auto cable and a capri stocker and make 1 out of the 2 at the correct length. just had a look at my spare c4 cable should have the drive gear fixed on the end of the cable and be held into the box by 'c' shaped peice held on by a bolt. ive got a pic of my box but camera batts are flat will post when charged dave
  20. was that the one in the torana full of bogans? cause if it was im amazed it wasnt holed b4 he got out the gate.
  21. pretty sure its the same bro or if your c4 has its own one then it should fit straight on to your speedo cable anyway
  22. just drill a hole big enough to feed the cable end thru in a position that the cable lies naturally in front of the shifter once your in the tunnel curve it round and line it up with the shifter arm on the trans easy as that. just keep it away from the exhaust the cable shifters are heaps better than tryin the set up a linkage system in a conversion situation.
  23. why bother with a 302 chev when you can get a 400cuber its excatly the same weight and dimensions its alot easier to get 400hp from 400cubes than 302 and alot cheaper and more reliable. dont get me wrong the 302chev was an awesome motor its just than you get alot more bang for buck with more cubes. the other prob is that the 302 was based on a 327 block good luck finding a 327 thats not worn out beyond tolerances. remember the first gen camaros are 40yrs old now. though in saying that all 350s are 4in bore if you could find the right crank and rods it could still be done
  24. a chev smallblock 283-400ci is roughly 600mm wide by 700mm long the widest point being the exhaust manifolds. the toyota v8 while being wider about 700 square lends itself to being fitted into a 'tighter'engine bay cause the widest point is the rocker covers. the exhausts are underneath. ie away from most things like steering/brake cylinders etc
  25. im pretty sure zep had one of those blow thru carb boxs on his gemini at sum stage. mate has toyota blower on a 12a bridgy sucking thru a holley 4 barrel seems to work real well. blower is a bit small for the rotang though tends to run out of grunt at about 7000rpm simply cant flow enough air. makes the 12a bp supa torquey too
