Can confirm cup attachment goes hard^

What filter is everyone using on 3m masks for painting with 2k? Keen to not root my lungs tbh

3m use colour codes for their filters, Brown is the one you're after for organic solvents.

Base coat is normally 1k, just paint and thinner

no, it can be anything thats compatible with the base coat.

you can even use a 1 stage system and not use a clear

2k clear is the best tho (and has the most isocyannates)

Leaf springs on old paj have copped a hiding from boat launches over the years. Anyone got ideas on how to protect them? Get them galvanised and reassemble?

I had thoughts of marine epoxy but imagine that will wear off pretty quickly.

I'm not sure I have seen hot dipped leaf springs before. I'd pull them apart to wire brush and coat with POR15 over the surface rust remaining. It's always going to be a trouble spot. The other thing you could do is when putting back together coat with grease and then when you grease the bearings give the leafs a smear.

I've had good results with dinitrol av30 on underbody stuff, seems to last for ages whereas most paints probably won't have the flexibility for the spring movement.

Probably disassembled wire buff and assemble with grease would be as good as anything.

Powder coat?

Wouldn't powder coating crack when the spring flexes?

I wonder what's on new utes maybe just mill scale and some thin black paint

I know coil springs are usually powder coated

Overspray on boat.

I had to touch up a couple of planks and rather than have a hard tape line I would feather it into the already done planks.

Now I have a lot of dry dusty overspray where it once was gloss 2k. Any tips for getting rid of it beside sanding and polishing? Google suggests a clay bar but have never heard of it.

Yeah claybar can help, but i think if it was over fresh paint its probably melted in a bit. get your 3m claybars off aliexpress for cheap, they work good with overspray on older paint or on glass.

I would probably get a buffer out and some swirl remover (which is exactly what i did last time i got overspray like that)

Cheers. I have some cutting compound in the parts bin so Ill give it a whirl in a few days when it sets. Thankfully the worst of it will be below the waterline so the fish can keep their comments to themselves.
