"Almost all automotive coils use a 0.25-0.29 microfarad capacitor." Random google result. They are just a capacitor. I can't imagine that there is much difference in the actual mFD rating of them. Could totally be quality differences though. I've always understood that they basically stop arcing at the points, so the value won't matter very much, so long as they achieve the objective.

I stopped going to VTNZ due to similar crap. Get wofed at local garage now. Much more pleasant.

I tested one today, using a spare (charged) battery. B+ wire to battery +, random 12v lamp from battery + to D+ on alt. Case ground to battery -. Used a angle grinder (with a stripping disc on it) to spin it a bit. Light went out. Called it good (for now). Now have to figure out wiring into a 1964 Mercury with no charge light. Hmm.

I've used some Nissan fuse panels so far in my project, but I am highly tempted to chuck them in the bin and use a wiring kit. I'll need to roll my own for the Nissan EFI, but that is pretty straightforward.

You are right. I should have looked closer/had less beer. Came from a random box of swap meet parts. There's a 3/4 inch wilwood M/C in there that has one of the mounts swan off, and the pushrod shortened right up. Who does such things? I used the complete sets on my project

I've got one spare too, with a cap and angled lower adapter. No mount though. PM me.

In electrical terms, a few more cm of copper wire is going to make SFA difference to the overall resistance of the wire, provided that it is properly connected to the original wiring.

Seems like bollocks to me. Lots of hot rods use aftermarket gauges, or something from a different vehicle.

I used two willwood ones. I think I used some hoses from a Hiace van, as Beaver notes. Biggest pain was making the fitting to go into the master cylinder. I built two of these and had them cad plated.

Maybe. Holden is current tired after visiting Nelson/Takaka/Totaranui with camping gear. It always annoys me that they charge the car owners for these sort of events. After all, without the cars there wouldn't be much of a show. I 'displayed' mine for free at the Totaranui camp.
