Popular Post P_Star
This horrid (awesome) thing doesn't belong in the project thread as the plan is to get it useable and fang around a bit so not a proper "project" as such. Anyway it's a Beach Buggy/Offroader thing based on a shortened Beetle pan and suspension... the rest of it is rust and plumbing/scaffolding pipe. here are the pics the fella up norf sent me: You can see why I wanted it right??... no, not "because you are a fucking retard!" but thanks Thanks so much to Snoozin, Euron8, OrionFels/tedhuang for helping out with the epic roadie to collect and Slacker.Cam for the trailer loan, would have been a nightmare/fuckup/impossibility without your combined goodcuntedness (that's a word now ok... Shaz, put it in the OS Dick Shinnery) Chris said "fuck me the wheels are rusted to fuck" i was like "nah bro they will be sweet"... then I looked at them: hmmm... yeah, ok, need a new set of wheels... if you bought the ones I should have bought faster on TM I hate you Anyway... Apparently "The engine goes sweet, just broke the clutch cable and couldn't be fucked any more mate, might need to adjust the dizzy though coz there's a new on on there..." and "brakes work sweet now I think" Sure it does... meh, made a silly offer, wasn't silly enough apparently cos he said yup, sweet... 7 hours later and it's on my lawn: Plan is chop all the rusted cage out, so essentially the top section, weld in some more shit that will supply some strength and head room, plate up a bit of rust in the chassis... just rough and ready to make sure all is strong. Get engine going, attach seats, maybe move pedal box forward as currently you(I) can't change gears because leg is jammed against gear lever then fang over summer... Muriwai, maybe a week or so up 90 mile camping/fishing/exploring/jumping sand dunes etc. meh, discuss if you like... I would like to bypass the steps between now and dune smashing but that might be wishful thinking lol. In short a less pretty version of this: Get Bishes??

63Ragtop
Good shit man, yous was serial about this huh? That is not only a kombi gearbox, but the whole rear unit/torsion bar housing, bugs don't have those big frame rails Can see the reduction boxes in last pic, they give lower gearing and higher ground clearance, so it's a good thing. flyingbrick
Looking closely at that Manx I can see that over isolation from the sand/tarmac/dirt is not currently an issue.

DB8-TypeR
I would quite like a Manx style buggy, I think I know where one is that a guy is "going to fix up one day". Quite jealous of your purchase
