A&A transmission is who sold us the parts to rebuild his 904. They were personally reccomended to me by Tom Hand who wrote the book on building torqueflites. By a sheer stroke of luck i was asking questions on the internet saying id ordered the book. And he messaged me. (Hes a GC!)

A&A make a lot of really nice custom parts.

Ive been meaning to give Tom an update. I should ask him what he thinks might cause that.

Bugger about the trans. Can't remember which you got, SB torqueflite?  If no joy with them, give Cope Racing Transmisssions a try,  He makes some real nice custom bits. off memory i was tossing up with A&A or cope, cant remember what the deciding factor was.  Think it was too hard to communicate with them and Cope was extremely easy to deal with..  but this was like... 2015 and again in 16 ?

spoke to him this morning, he has the part in stock, its on its way

he said the trans has to come out to get the pin out to replace the lever, internet says it can be done in place, so ill have a crack and see if i can do it in place first. theres a plug in the bellhousing behind the converter that has to be removed to slide the pin out which looks difficult to get to

he said hes heard of it happening a few times, can be caused by band adjustment being a bit loose, the lever gets a bit more of a hard time with a manual valve body and full line pressure all the time

Well all i can say is good luck with that LOL   Cunty fucking heavy things. Least you have the hoist etc be so much easier. I'm never removing the BB 727 trans on my back on the concrete floor again.

I pulled the th400 from the bonneville with the car on axle stands. 2 people and a jack were 100% necessary  . Putting it back it was worse

The largest cunty part is once you manage to actually get it off the car and on the ground without squashing or breaking your arms..  actually getting it out from under the car once on the ground. Due to the diameter of bellhousing being so large - even when the car on the large 6ton jack stands right up its almost not high enough off the ground to slide it out from under..  there is no way on normal 3t stands.

Can confirm its not an enjoyable experience. We usually pull the engine too because its actually easier.

LOL we tried that getting it back in, the bellhousing/motor hits the firewall/tailshaft end of gearbag hits the ground, before the sump can clear the front crossmember.  would need a pit or be off the ground rather high off memory. ended up taking it back off and doing it the hard way, motor in first then tranny on from under.

taking off is way easier then back on.

Nope.

Courier sent a pic of the bin they left it on, saying gps showed they dropped it off at the right address

I sent them a picture of my bin, to show it was in fact not dropped off at my address,  and could they tell me what address they dropped it at

But they would not

I spent a couple of hours walking around trying to see where it might have ended up, trying same number house a street over, or a street not far away with a similar name etc

Cunts
