Threeonthetree
Insane in the membrane. I really dig this era of Chevrolet pickup.

AllTorque
So awesome. This project could go so many ways. What's the plan? Resto, rat rod, as is?
Liam-B
I would get it roadworthy, bare minimum body work, slam, steelies and drive as is. I think a style side tray would look cooler than a well side bed but thats just me
di0n
Looked at a lot of different options. Initial plan was get it roadworthy with as little work as possible and leave it patina, but the body is in such a bad way that I'm going to lose most of the patina through doing bodywork. I'm now thinking modern V8 and auto and modern suspension with a pretty much restored body.
_Matt
I have one of these sitting in the shed at the moment, but mine is in a lot better condition. This basically describes what I'm going to do. roadworthy, bare minimum body work, slam, steelies and drive as is.
dr.wylde
yusssssssss! this is cool! get roadworthy and roll as is!
browndog
I can't believe nobody has mentioned the original signwriting - "Jim Rust Panelbeaters and Spraypainters" - hilarious I can imagine the comments back in the day, "here comes Rusty in his rusty truck......" Even that signwriting has some old school coolness about it. What engines do these things run? Blue Flame six?
Liam-B
You could probably get away with doing the rusty body work but just getting some paint to blend it in etc? Mind you, you never know what you will find when restoring an old vehicle. Trust me I know with my XP sedan haha
cletus
should be a cool truck!

Liam-B
You should watch all these as episodes as well, pretty cool build up! http://www.powerblocktv.com/episodes/TK2009-05/classix-part-
di0n
Yeah I priced up all the new rust repair panels from the states and was about to order it all last week, but another cab popped up on TradeMe. So I now have a nice rust free cab straight out of Arizona. I'll have to swap in the RHD dash from my rusty cab but aside from that its perfect. Pics to come. The sign writing is actually quite recent, the previous owner was Jim Russ so his workers made up the sign as a joke The engine in this one is the original 216ci Stovebolt 6. They were splash oiled so didn't run an oil pump.
Spencer
Awesome truck man! these are really well supported for parts in the states which makes getting it sorted that much easier, good luck.
Rookie
This has the potential to be so so sweet. It NEEDS a V8 though.
Liam-B
The other cab looks sweet! Is it in the usa still? Also what to do with chassis rust, do you have another frame for it?
di0n
The other cab looks sweet! Is it in the usa still? Also what to do with chassis rust, do you have another frame for it? Nah the new cab is in my shed. Chassis is my biggest worry. Will strip it back and take it in to an engineer or someone to look at I think. Hopefully it's repairable, that seems to be the only rusty section.
Liam-B
Nice! You should be able to weld a new section in, paint it and nobody would ever know
di0n
So I'm on the lookout for a Jaguar XJ6 for my front suspension and subframe. Anyone got any reasons why I should or should not use jag?
