BlownCorona
I recently bought this bike off rot808, and aside from the points being well worn and cause it to die a long way from home haha, it seems to be great, New points, plug oil etc has either been put in or on order, just a general service before i start the bike build ive always wanted to do. im fairly strange in the fact i like the look of old bikes, but really have next to no desire to own someting over 100cc. the cb50 has been my favorite 50cc for ages, and ive always wanted one to build up into a brat/cafe style bike. and so it begins. Today i found that the whole tail section simply unbolts. and i started to build the flat style brat seat, reused skate board deck. ive since painted it black to get an idea of what it will look like when its upholstered, and its looking great. I havnt made up my mind wether to go with clipons, flipped bars, or leave as is, i think they would all look good...
Chris.QCR
Definelty dont flip bars. no one has ever made flipped bars look good. Never. Clip ons would suit this nicely

anglia4
I was gutted not to have got in quick enough for this bike haha. Looks like you are doing it justice though!
BlownCorona
It was with MASSIVE thanks to dpns that I was able to own it as he was kind enough to aid in transport. Also taking input on the paint side of things
anglia4
paint mudguard and headlight surround to the same shade as the tank and then don't touch it
BlownCorona
i do like that shade, though i WILL be painting the tank, cause its been brushed on and looks terrible
BlownCorona
also, im starting to really digg the factory bars with the brat seat, might leave as is for the time being, get seat covered, and work out rear lights and how to sidemount the plate. need to fit new points so i can actually ride it too. some day very soon
BlownCorona
front forks were ultra soft, so went out to change/top up the oil. found they were dry, filled up. now my shock absorbers absorb shocks! i think im 99% decided on very dark midnight blue for the tank/accesories, with black frame, wheels and engine. aswell as black seat which i hope to be getting professionally trimmed pretty soon. Chris.QCR
sounds ideal. My ones were among the last Michelins to be made in france. Now made in taiwan= shit
BlownCorona
Shitty tires arent a huge concern on such a tiny bike, as long as they grip enough and look the part
KKtrips
France is pretty much the Taiwan of Europe anyhow. Except Taiwan actually make good stuff because they're not always drunk. lol

anglia4
no one has ever made flipped bars look good. Never. Still wouldn't suit a cafe/brat bike though!
BlownCorona
Agreed. I'm leaning towards stock bars. With the low seat its a great riding position and being such a small bike dropped bars may make it very cramped
