Wow, impressive car there. It's certainly had some $$$ thrown at it along the way. I've been restoring an RA28 for last couple years and seeing beautiful Celica's like yours keeps me motivated to get it finished one day.

Thanks,

The Celica has been the 'daily' over the Zed. Didnt really turn out that way.

All I picked up was another car that needs heaps of work. Just a bit less than the 240zg. A lot less.

$ wise I do not tally this figure, as it would steer me off course with guilt, shame etc. Yuck.

It does help that its far lower than its older brother tho.

Matters outstanding to this TA22 in my view;

- Power up to circa 600hp flywheel

- modded R154 gearbox install for tight shifts (w55 struggles)

- AE86 PS rack/column/modded cross member (soft wide tires, small tiller = hell)

- IRS (Chaser w/LSD)

- body mods of 17x10 & 17x12 wheels and wide style ZG flares (as per my zed)

= sorted!

= mmm another $20k ++?

Ill get back to my work then.....

Just when I think it all seems a little ridiculous, I look around the garage.......hmmm.....maybe this is ok after all......

Oh yeah, the EWP, Electric water pumping controller.

An early rather epic fail at an attempt to replicate a mechanical water pump in the radiator cooling circuit as opposed to the engine coolant circuit.

hmmmmm. Water temp spikes hello!

Since replaced with a mech pump and stock ST215 thermo = Lovely.

The old system (Davies EWP etc) still pushed a bearing in a cut down mech water pump anyway via the cambelt, very little hp gained if any, (not like Nissan Rb's, which have the external auxiliary belt running the water pump and alternator, not cambelt). It didnt run a thermostat, so water temp control was more or less non existant. fail.

Meh. Plenty of old designs to mop up from the old owner.

As you can see, its on going, mine also.

So ok, heading down the Southwestern this morning and an loud banging from the engine area, first thought it was a big end (oh noooooo), but ended up being W55 gearbox failure,

so, if anyone has one sitting around, I have cash and will collect! (Sheepers!?)

Doesnt need bellhousing nor shifter, just the core.

thanks, great site update too, looks great!
