Roman
Yeah cold air setup is definitely worthwhile, showed some good gains on mine.
shaneo
high static compression ratio, lower dynamic ratio depending on cam duration. Yes the cam has a long duration and 11.5mm lift
phatt20
what was the static comp ratio and duration of the cam out of curiosity ?
peteretep
I would guess that he has a cam similar to this. Pretty sure he said he asked for a high torque cam and he has peak power around 6k rpm http://kentcams.com/product-details/4/Camshaft/Camshaft/224--High-Torque/

shaneo
The rev range is 2250rpm to 7200rpm and I asked for it to have mid range tourqe and what I ended up with is above
peteretep
oh yeah it says the cam is a 234HL, which worked out about right, HL being higher lift than normal 234 cam

EURON8
Whatever the spec it does enjoy a good roundabout I noticed this avo... The rain this morning revealed that even with some good quality yokos, the old lada still loves a cheeky throttle dlip and a slide around and snakeys out of a roundabout What did you break yesterday? I saw 2 escorts heading home early from drag day yesterday as I was heading back.
shaneo
I'm keen too for the twilight bandwagon! Mine is out of action for at least a month at this stage . I'm pretty sure I have a bent value after the last run I done at the drags yesterday its only running on 3 cylinders . very keen for late Jan for a twilight and as many as I can fit in after that

Bent value I think I just took it home instead of causing more uneeded damage
mikuni
Damn.. I liked your post because of the good time and the win, then I read that it might be a bent valve that ended the day. Bugger!

Bantam
Think it will last long after being repaired? Those cracks look terminal to me
peteretep
dang that looks serious, good luck getting it to leadfoot! any idea what caused it?
shaneo
I thought the same but the big crack has been there for ages its water jacket to water jacket not ideal but not the end of the world . The two smaller ones are new but there is so much work been done on this head with the large values and match porting inlet and out let its worth a go to fix it. Would cost loads to get a new head up to this spec and change to the spare head I have I would have to down size the carbs as it wouldn't flow enough The machine shop said leave it to the master He has never steered me wrong yet
shaneo
The big job is trying to sort out cold air flow and blocking off the heat from the headers the dyno guy told me easy 5hp by cooling it down at the carbs easy yeah right
