Mitch.W
yeah just wondering if anyone has done/ tries it before?
BlownCorona
keep the weld relatively cool so it wont warp and you should be fine, wont it give more of an ssr mk1 look rather than wide steelie though? not that that's a bad thing at all
Mitch.W
haha yeah idk ive already got a set of ssr mk1s also haha or i might just paint them matte black and stretch some tires on them mabe
Bling
No one has probably done it as it's not worth the time and effort. By the time you mess around (ignoring any pitfalls of just welding in patches, and grinding it all back flush and trying to get a nice finish) you probably could have spent that time earning some $$ and got some steels widened properly. Might be worth the effort to you though, so go nuts. If you care about the legals might want to look into that first as I doubt it would be legal. Jase
just sandblast and powder coat an obscene colour/black will look sweet or put diff centers in if you have too much money.
BlownCorona
can you put different centers in solid steel rims?
Simon
can you put different centers in solid steel rims? Course. You can do anything with steel. And almost anything with Alloy.

Roman
lol are steel wheels now some kind of rare commodity? *mind asplode*
BlownCorona
youd probably be surprised how hard it is to find a complete set, what with alloys being standard for years now
Yowzer
Yeah, and most people give little fuck for steels so they all get scrapped, and all you're left with is base-spec hubcap covered / spare wheel types.
Mitch.W
youd be suprized how much modgies sell for theese days around 600-700 hahaha

Mitch.W
yes very i dont really like modgies i i figure i could make profit out of theese so why not.
mikuni
How wide are they? Another option is to just use the chrome bands, cut the modular centre out and weld in something decent.
bubblegoose
i thunk the idea was to remove deh oles brah could just weld space save centers into them?
shizzl
price of all wheels in general are OTT imho... 600 is fair if they have decent tyres on them.. can say the same with any oldschool jap alloy too the "modgie" came out as a smoothie aswell,it just didnt have holes.. i think they look heaps better than the modgies
