Celica RA45
in that pic of the v8 thats not stand off ,thats just misting its when it is coming out about 9inches above the bell mouth and the back of the air box is wet ,that is stand off ,most times is caused by exhaust reversion ,and even with vvti its hard to get rid of
spanners
Is it quite a bad issue? I would have thought the motor would just suck it all back in?
Celica RA45
std motors are ok, its when you go up in comp ,cam duration and liftand how far the inlet length is same also with exhaust headers etc i use to get stand off from 7500 to 8800 at 1 stage ,by going bigger in the injectors and changing end of injection timming has helped a lot to fix this
nick_m
How has the bigger injectors helped with standoff. open for smaller time for same amount of fuel?
spanners
I was meaning does it actually matter? Does it make a fuelly mess in your engine bay or does the engine suck it all back up?
Spencer
^ uh the fuel sits wet on the walls of your plenum and you have a epic fire hazard The massive injectors mean you can use a smaller duty cycle to get the same fuel in. you can then time this so your not injecting into reversion hopefully. nick_m
sweet, got my head round it now. Was getting a little confused as to why such monster injectors. All has become clear
Celica RA45
even with bigger injectors im still using 50 % duty cycle at 100 % throttle but yes it helps with a narrow injector window
Spencer
some piezoelectric injectors would be sweet when we're rich

nick_m
^ Had thoughts of doing that with 4x ca18 54mm throttle bodies Those TB's are a bit neater than ca ones as ca ones have water retic through the bottom of them, but they definitely look like some oem throttle body
Truenotch
Yeah, if you could find them in 48-50mm it could be worth looking at.
