ESKIN8R
Right, so about to order a bit of kit from the UK Coilover kits are cheap, reckon thatd be overkill for a mk2 escort van to be used daily with a pinto? Looking at gaz shocks aswell, how do these compare to the likes of munroe etc?? And panhard rod? Worthwhile upgrade?
Simon
I think definitely over the top for a daily. You will need to cert them. Why do you wan't to upgrade the panhard rod? Only necessary if you are slamming it heaps to get the diff back in the middle. Surly you can get decent lowering springs for it and some new shocks and it will handle 5x better as it is just with new harder shocks. ESKIN8R
Well I can get the gaz shocks for pretty much the same price as the ones in NZ, munroe etc Doesnt have a panhard rod or rear swaybar or anything, its going to need to be certed anyway due to engine coversion. kyteler
Gaz shocks are good, Munroe are shit. If you can get some Gaz gear for the same price as Shitroe, go for it.
Simon
Oh crazy. I'm not familiar with them. Do these things have leafs in the back? If your going coilovers you'll need a panhard rod. If you can get it all cheap then why not. Cert will cost the same.
ESKIN8R
MacPherson struts in the front, rear leaf springs, the coil over kits convert the front stuts to coilover $40 for kit per side and they can do springs to suite for around $40 aswell. So yeah pretty basic, just wondering how much benefit panhard rods provide?
Yowzer
Stops the back end flying around. Leaf springs don't need them as the leaves locate the rear end. Coils need them otherwise the back axle will fly out side to side. Unless ya have some triangulated rear end setup or something, which will be harder to do. My name is Russell
Get tramp bars before panhard as tramp is more a problem with 2L conversions. only fit one tramp bar also as two can cause more problems than good. unless your wheels are close to the guard? then get panhard get gas adjustable lowerd ones if planning on lowering poss convert from angled to upright shocks if so needs to be decided before shocks ordered obviously Whats your budget? All that stuff on burtons is super cheap if you just look at price but postage costs even more than the items themselfs they only send air mail, stupidly expensive! 1K doesnt go far by the time you get it here i learnt

Would probly use blocks anyway which wudnt affect the spring platform height anyway right? Dont wanna convert to upright. Budgets not overly high for the suspension, more going to engine. Already ordering heaps from Burtons anyway so dont think the postage price is guna change that much by chucking these few bits in.
My name is Russell
Would probly use blocks anyway which wudnt affect the spring platform height anyway right? Yeah good point as shocks fix at leaves so for blocks should be fine, not sure if they can handle re set leaves from standard. I found going from standard to koni shocks was one of the biggest improvements i made on my escort out of any mod, GAZ adj shocks should be even better. 3.5 diff is also way good for road going pinto cruser
eskymsport
If ordering from burtons, make sure you allow for customs to charge you gst and handling charges. Also if your order is over a $1000 nz you may be required to supply an importers licence no. if asked by customs
ESKIN8R
How do you get an importers licence number?

My name is Russell
ah thats right forgot on my order i had to pay 120 bloodybucks gst before they would give it to me also
zep
Make sure you specify all the lengths when you order from Gaz, they manufacture each set of shocks to order so if you just say "for an escort" they might be too long for lowered cars, etc. This is what happened to me anyway and now I have to get mine shortened.
