CUL8R
Torque tube mount like I was saying I'd imagine.. Notice it most under hard acceleration/shifts
CUL8R
Can get 185/65s for cheaps soon, brand new cheaper than the smallest 155 we do... I'd have to get in 60's as we dont make anything that size..
Beaver
Yeah theres a rubber mount where the torque tube mounts to the body and every chevette I have ever driven makes a bit of a bang sound when you drop the clutch or go between the gears pretty fast. It can be fixed by replacing this mount. Unless you are talking about just a random knock when driving. Not sure what that would be but maybe just check movement of exhaust because it gets pretty tight through the tunnel there. Is that the two rubber bushs that can be seen when looking from the diff foward, and are attached to the bottom side of the torque tube? And yeh, it only knocks when you are a bit quick on the clutch, and if you hammer it between the gears.

CUL8R
Nah those are steel spacers you're talking about. The torque tube rubber goes right around the torque tube and pressed steel is all around it which is what bolts to the floorpan. Hope that makes sense

CUL8R
Oh yea If I remember to take them out of boot.. Could piss around one night at work, use tools/hoist there.. And yes its entirely possible that someone put a gemini diff into, almost a straight swap in.. Everything about the gemini diff is larger.
