Bling
Probably more of a Tech question really..but anyways.. http://www.springs.co.nz/index.html - These guys specialise in that kind of thing. Pretty sure blocks are just a cheap way to lower, not the best way, just the cheapest. Some info on block lowering: http://www.eatonsprings.com/blocks.htm More info on leaf springs in general, seems to be pretty legit info. http://www.eatonsprings.com/atqMainPage.htm

Beaver
bellamy and east in christchurch will reset your leafs for $120 basically ready the next day. i would recommend this over blocks for a few reasons. firstly you can only legally lower 2" with blocks, but can go as low as your leafs will allow if you get them reset. mine ended up about 70mm lower. also reduces diff tramp, ie the whole diff rotating under hard acceleration, which can occur with blocks as the blocks act as a lever arm. also resetting leafs is visually a much tidier way of doing it. im sure there are other reasons, but when it cost close to 100 for clocks and bolts (if you buy them) you may as well get the leafs reset instead. hope this helps
Steelies
getting hung up on your U-bolts/lower shock mounts on curbs and slopes on the side of the road is an annoying issue with blocks. have failed wof on bent shock stud before, not to mention time spent kicking bricks under the wheels while holding up traffic
m0ss4yy
Leaf resetting all the way. Blocks a U bolts are gonna cost u the best part of $100 anyway, i got my leaf springs reset for $120, its just a better way to do it, can go down as much as u like etc and u dont have to fluff around with u bolts and having horey looking blocks under your axle housing my vote: reset them. not much more cost, and is way mroe solid
rwd_mayhem
but if you get them reset too much you will end up inverting the leafs which is a cert issue if your going for it.
m0ss4yy
Should be able to go 3" lower before it inverts.. if u wanna go any lower than that, go 2" and 2" blocks aswell
japawagons
I was thinking about reseting the rear leafs in my corona but they are sitting pretty much flat as they are, i'm assuming they will invert. Anyone know anything about the leafs in the rt84's, whether this is normal or not.
escortman
def go reset, its the same price as blocks ( or cheaper cost me a bottle of rum haha) can also get a leaf added to stiffen it up a little, i reset mine 3ins and theyr dead flat but a little soft so im getting another leaf added when i get it on the road
Bombsquad
firstly you can only legally lower 2" with blocks, but can go as low as your leafs will allow if you get them reset. mine ended up about 70mm lower. also reduces diff tramp, ie the whole diff rotating under hard acceleration, which can occur with blocks as the blocks act as a lever arm. also resetting leafs is visually a much tidier way of doing it. Pretty much exactly what this man said, blocks twist and tramp under torque/skids. The only real advantage of blocks is that any one with a jack and a socket set can do it themselves and put it back to standard again any time. I have 2" blocks and reset leaves in my 323 (standy motor) which is tucking the tyres in the back. I will be going to full reset leaves and caltrac bars once new motors in though

Been told s.a.s in manukau will do it, but would be a few day turn around as opposed to one.

m0ss4yy
You gotta take the leaf springs out, and he does them from there, but if you were keen you could drive to my house, take em out, take them to this dude who does them, then when we get them back (around 3.5 hours later) chuck them in with the blocks.. Or just bring them round this side of town and take them to him, go to some shops or something for the afternoon and go pick them up
