Spencer
It would really be an abortion to have tvis back on, without a manifold that has separate runners for the butterflies you would end up with a mess
Steelies
thought about keeping tvis but yeah, way too much work making 8 runner manifold. actually runs really sweet down low, almost better than up high! dont even miss tvis. motor is good and smoky now too, yuss
Spencer
haha honestly TVIS is a life saver on a bluetop
KKtrips
Oh FYI - I was joking about fitting the TVIS
Steelies
totally sick of rebounding off individual atoms, need to ditch choppies. anyone got sweet recommendations for sweet springs for starla? loathing the idea of buying aftermarket springs then having to fuck with them to get height right, ie low. might be the only way wof spec, dont want coilovers just yet. fill me with your knowledge meat
My name is Russell
Do these have Mcpherson struts? If so coil overs are super easy for a man with your sweet skillz, and could swap out WOF time? I have lotsA springs you could dummy up with but are quite heavey LB track ones. mjrstar
I run a set of KFFL-11's in the back of my starlet, they are either rx3 or early rx7 fronts (can't remember which), The free length is 240mm. In the front I had before were a set of Lovells which didn't ride too bad for the height but I have since gone to an adjustable height set-up. KKtrips
Here is a very rough guide to choosing needles for your SU carbs: 1.5s on a 1500: The three letter code is stamped on the big end of the needle: Standard 1500cc ABT/ADN Stage One 1500cc AAQ/AAT Stage Two 1500cc AAM/AAB Stage Three 1500cc ADQ/AAL I would reckon Stage 2/3 1500cc would be the way to go out these selections.. Would be interesting to pull a needle out of the KP and see how yours compare... Leanest AAM 890 850 824 785 752 715 673 630 590 567 543 519 496 472 448 448 AAB 890 850 824 785 752 715 670 610 560 537 516 493 470 448 448 448 ADQ 900 868 838 813 788 760 735 713 692 670 650 630 610 593 575 560 AAL 890 850 830 800 771 745 715 680 653 627 600 590 580 570 560 550 Richest Sortable database = http://teglerizer.com/suneedledb/090needlesortjava2.htm Stupid thing is the numbers and letters don't actually mean anything in relation to the jet.. Steelies
anyone got a radiator to suit 4AGE? did minor starlet birthday last night and noticed my radiator is leaking. its the kp60 unit anyway, amazed it made it this far. naturally it's a few days before hawkes boes
ryanfels
Those standard kp60 and ke70 radiators usually do a pretty good job of keeping 4ages cool if they are in good nick with a decent fan and shroud
Steelies
yeah it's been pretty happy till now. guess i'll bite the bullet and get it fixed instead of replacing/inheriting another problem. probly worth is as it's had the outlet swapped to suit the 'rage
KKtrips
If its at your place I can swing by after Pinkys to pick it up and take it to Mark at Abel Smith - he'll fix it same day and for a pretty decent price - can drop it back to you after work tomorrow. Steelies
ok - current starlet issues.. any thoughts, advice or abuse much appreciated. - yay hawkesboes coming up, fdue for fluids and filters.. temp has been creeping up so i'll do the thermostat also. needs new fan switch too. - oil, thermostat done, fan switch ignored - go for hoon to check it's ok - temp behaves fine, but creeps up further than usual after some running. unplug fan switch so fan runs. - temp keeps creeping up and up, not quite to 'red' on gauge. its never got this hot before. - argh! pull over, chill out. check oil and water, all good. - limp home for more investigation - squeezing, rocking, disconnecting heater hose etc to look for air lock, none found - old and new thermostats both tested, both working fine - radiator suspicious, slight leak fixed and new cap, care of abel smith radiators. - test drive again, tootling round the bays spec.same as before - normal warmup time with steadily increasing temp. check fan, running full time. - ??? - rigged up compression tester, all 4 consistent @ 60ish psi. seems like fuck all?.. possibly down to hory gauge setup but it wasnt the horiest thing i've built! cover me with your hot goopy loads of knowledge please. KKtrips
60psi is much too low and would barely run. Get better compression tester and try again.
