Truenotch
So with the inner gaurds like that, you cant race in SS2000? Tech officer said as long as I have something steel there that's welded in we're good to go. So I'm banking on his word .
mikuni
I think SS2000's rule against cutting of inner guards is to avoid "tubbing". Just cutting a bit out to allow more clearance and retaining factory suspension mounting locations is probably not over the top.
My name is Russell
Are you going for a complete ss2000 season or just a few rounds? keen to pop up next time your on the track, looks like this new settup should go well.
Truenotch
Just a couple of rounds this year and we'll see how we go heading into the 2012/13 season. Quite keen to do a whole season but it's pretty testing on the wallet.
My name is Russell
Wonder what you could use to get that nice cure on the steel edge? Some sort of roller or a truck/trailers guard?
Truenotch
I bought a pair of non-galv trailer fenders to cut up for mine, similar to those above. Also have one for sale now if anyone wants to copy the idea .

My car is being stripped at the moment for cage, so a good time to do a few little things like this, before I tie suspension points back in to cage. Truenotch
Nah man, I think that's just my pictures playing tricks on you. Can't believe how much clearance it has now. Will be able to run 1xmillion caster if I want to.
mikuni
Semi = dot rated. Looking at the Avon site that Kelvin posted, this are DOT rated http://www.avonracing.com/road_legal_page.aspx You might just get laughed at, but could be worth a try. Truenotch
Hah, wouldn't hold up at all for SS open class. I don't need that though. NA + Slicks for the win.

fuel
12:1 comression is ALWAYS a good thing...but ue not a real man till you get it up round Diesel spec and run 27:1 compression! Most modern diesels these days are running as low as 14:1 CR. also with skimming 0.5mm off the block would you run into issues with the crown of the piston hitting the overlap of the head gasket if there is any? What about the valves, are the pockets in the crown deep enough for an extra 0.5mm? I would perhaps look at fitting a thinner head gasket if they are available or if you're not using one already.
