nothingsfree
Yeah the base map was surprisingly good. Have you tuned many cars with the G4 Mick?

Spencer
All I can say is set your cam up so when you can afford a computer that can run VVti, you can use it
eke_zetec_RWD
i want some info on the pulses needed from the ecu to run the vvti....... might have a plan
Spencer
its just standard PWM isn't it, I don't know the specifics on exactly what duty values correspond to advance/retard but there are maps on the net somewhere
Truenotch
Yeah I think it's a pretty standard PWM - flange said he could write a chip to do the job, but there are other variables to think about as well. Spence, I'll do all I can to get a cam that will do that job, but it's all about cheapness and speed of assembly at the moment. It needs to be finished by June. Spencer
its pretty basic to make up a micro to control it The VVTi map would just use RPM, throttle position & load. Its just who can be fucked (ie has the time) writing the code and paying for the the dyno time to play with it
eke_zetec_RWD
i think ican make the cam advance with your ecu, need a boost controller that works on rpm and throttle postion. so a 3d boost controller. but not closed loop. thaughts? Truenotch
That's an interesting idea Jase! Roman also mentioned something about the chip wanting to have a readout from the cam angle sensor as well. Could load be worked out from a MAP instead of AFM? Truenotch
That would be a sweet way to do it... I think we might have to try it, yeah? I'll have a search around for info about the pulse frequency etc.
eke_zetec_RWD
be fast to tune on dyno, sucks having to stop engine, burn hands, adjust wheels, try again, and again, more burning ect
Truenotch
I'm keen provided the valves stay in one piece .
