You call up link, give them your credit card details then they give you a number/password to download the firmware for G4. Then load onto g3 with laptop. Then load onto g3 with laptop. yea thaught so. its an ass tho, i only want it for the 3d boost control that the g4 has, but the g3 had g3 boost control as a feature/spec when i got it but they never did the upgrade to this!
