johnnyfive
Might not be a bad idea. Also, I am developing a strong hate for cars, found some rust.
johnnyfive
Ok ok. Have calmed down somewhat. Borrowing a gasless tig over the long weekend and will be removing rear suspension/fuel tank etc. Just need to find a washing machine or two to cut up. johnnyfive
Actually now that I think about it I'm pretty sure one of my friends have a washing machine killing grass at their house. Might harvest some steel off it. Ok, a plan is formed.
KKtrips
Also put the washing machines concrete counterweight into the spare wheel bit under the bonnet and drag that front down.. LOL ecksoh J5
johnnyfive
On that note. Removed one of the 4wd struts with adjustable spring seat, took out ~50mm from below the spring perch. Put back in car with of innards of the original struts and 4wd cut springs. Now sits at about 95mm with the adjusters all the way down. Will do the other side tomorrow, then possibly take another 1/2 coil off, then measure for the length of inserts needed. Oho! A plan is formed. John do you want rusty old freezer for steel? Its killing grass on our lawn and we are moving this weekend. Awww yeaah, I don't really have a need for the rest of Mr Freezer though.... How rusty? I mean, I probably shouldn't put rusty steel back into Fuji Heavy Industrys finest rust-pile thats all.
DB8-TypeR
We have no need to Mr Freezer either... Ahhhh I dont remember how rusty, depends how much steel you need. Vintage Grumble
Adequate work has been performed. I approve. Also, why use old steel?, go to panel beaters and buy a section of electro galv panel steel? If you need heaps can do a 1200x2400 sheet for like $60 or so I think. WORD PLAYER. Vintage Grumble
Shit I dunno, have got around a sq meter for like $10 before. Also if you get the same gauge will be easier to weld. Go see wilsons behind 1XX, they are GC's.
johnnyfive
Good idea. Gsr is getting a burfday. Might weld some scrape sections into floor/exhaust.

johnnyfive
Problem is with keeping it at work (where it currently is for the week or two) is that although I've got access to far more stuff, Its got to be movable the next day, and people (who will probably be doing the WOF) are particularly nosey. So hoping to get this part done tidily asap with no dramas.
