zep
WEST has one, or two maybe. I hear they are also very good, and there are a lot of ratio options to choose from. Expensive tho...

SYKOV6
they are ment to b as strong as a ford 9in but 40kg lighter which is all good most of the qik import racers are usin em. i was lookin at a mazda b 2000 diff for the corty at one stage but i managed to find the ratio i was after for my 8in so i scraped the idea. hiluxs are gettin pretty pricey too

Draizuh
My GFs old man is putting one in his 4AGZE turbo AE86. i think his is a 4.1 LSD. cost about 300 for the head.
Gaz
I just brought one on trademe minus the head for $40. Am going to look for the 4.1 LSD head as it'll bolt up to an sr20 or similar box which is also 4.1. Think an LSD head is round $350 mark and cutting it up is do-able or at the worst $400. Cheers guys. Might have the shortened cortina one for sale soon if this works out.
phillip@premierauto.co.nz
i have a toyota hiace diff in my escort, blow the spiders in it and put in a lsd unit, but the lsd still have some small gears inside them to, as for strength they are prety strong just depends on whst ya doin with them, the lsd unit really needs to be tightend a bit from standard settings for motor racing, cheep though, halve the price as the standard escort ones we sell. z-gen
hiace diff and hilux are the same. they are both G series, which is 8" diff.
RT
the good ratios are becoming hard to find, and you have to fork out for em.

kyteler
So when you lads are saying, the good ratios and prices.. what are the ratios people are after and what kind of prices are they fetching (drum to drum)
z-gen
average price for a hilux drum to drum lsd setup would be around the $300 to $500, non lsd you can get for about 200. ratios depend on the type of racing etc, but a 4.3:1 or a 4.1:1 are the most common. as i said earlier, Hiace van diffs are exactly the same, yet alot of people decide to pay more for one out of a hilux. pick a part usually has a few hiace lsd's, but i never have money when they are there
zep
Is there an easy way to tell if it's an LSD without turning the wheels?
Guest escort_boy
jack it up and see i think would be the only way
z-gen
yah, jack car up, put car into gear, and spin the wheels, or look on the firewall plate. the diff code will be like G-293 etc the last number 2 or 3 means if its lSD of not, 3 means it has one, 2 means its open diff. Ned
buying LSD rear end, shortening, mount replacing etc would cost $1000 for the starlet. if i had the old axle to get the mounts of. and thats kinda mates rates too...
durty
yeah. i know. costs a shitload so im just gonna put off doing it till i have blown all my normal diffs
zep
$1000 that's cheap as!!! Most setups i've heard of come to around $2000 all up after buying the diff, shortening it, swapping the mounts and what ever extra shit you need to do.
