  1. That is absolutly awsome man, so thats 150 for the kit, and we have to supply our own dgav and falcon throttle? Great work! Matt
  2. Those carbs might be overkill on a standard engine. Anyway, dont bother trying to tune it your self. Chances are your not guna be able to stop it running rich yourself, the jets are probably too large, so no amount of twisting screws will help. Take it to a professional, they'll jet it and tune it to suit.
  3. Yeah man im keen as, leon will be to nodoubt. Whats the deal with camping out over there?
  4. haha , you dont know how tempted I am to leave it rat. A hypo engine would be great in rat exterior......hmm maybe il have a think about it....
  5. Planing on painting her gloss black, not sure where just yet. Guna pop by PK pannel and exculsive pannel and a few other local places as soon as exams are over. I got the pertronix kit from http://www.philspeed.co.nz was bout 250 bucks from memmory, maybe a little more it was a while ago. The guy was a legend and real helpful. Though I think you can probably get it off the pertronix online store a little cheaper. It was piss-simple to put in. Took all of ten minutes, bolt in pretty much. Would highly reccomend getting one dude, made a world of difference over dirty points!
  6. Some better pictures of the rat gem. Scored a paint job from the olds for my 21st so hoefully it will be painted in time for new-years, good bye rat look
  7. EFI is the way to go, with the throttle before the s/c intake. The toyota superchares wil work sweet with efi, (as above) but shit with a carby setup.(Btw dont go blow-through, its really hard to get tuned right). If you can, try find a differnt s/c, the toyota ones are actually pretty shit, inefficient and produce a lot of heat. Personally i think a suck through supercharger would be the sweetest, not the most effective, but definatly looks the coolect and goes with the oldschool theme. Theres a couple of companys that make some nice suck through s/c's for 4 cyclinders. Some of the harley davidson s/c would suit you well, they look really cool(roots sytle) and come up on trademe every now and then. Matt
  8. Yeah as zep said, the cyclinder head shop. I asked the guy about porting and he told me anyware between 300 and 800 bucks because he hadnt ported a gemini head before. Hes bound to have done a fair few pintos so I'd rock up and he'll probably be able to give you pretty accurate estimate.
  9. When I had to make my fuel return line, Zep and I rang up a cert guy and he told us they have to be metal. I think the idea was that the rubber lines could fray over time. Not too sure but thats what i was told. So i ran down to auto stop when they sell metal fuel line by the metre and bent a new one up my self. Matt
  10. I got a pertronics electronic conversion kit(replaces points with a module) from philspeed for my gemini. I HIGHLY reccomend it. Never have to bother with points again and the difference was amazing, much smother drive and got a few hps out of it too, Phill was really helpful also, (Stayed true to a quote post the NZ Dollar crash) http://www.philspeed.co.nz
  11. You could have a port put on the manifold for vac -ad, or just advance the dizzy a few degrees, say 2-4 not sure about mitsi's but thats what i did on my engine.
  12. Proma as above, available form Mag and Turbo.
  13. Yeah pretty much, student sydrome... no cash, no time Done a few small things.... i think. Mainly just problem solving,(lots of problems). New brake master, new front sway bar,re-did the whole interior. Got zeps old lsd and disk brake diff going in, in the next uni holis. Expensive girls are mostly to blame, no cash to get it painted. Oh and i found out my sump was dry this afternoon, thank fuck i didnt start it.
  14. More Pictures; Looks shocking, Really need to do something about the engine bay o_0

    Diff Noises

Signs that diff is on its way out: large vibration at speed, making wirring noises and shuddering when turning sharp coners. A sudden clunk doesnt really sound like a diff problem, unless you had just dump the clutch or similar. Matt

    Engine Misfires

My bet, fuel, carb pump or filter. Firsty your not running it on 91 are you? One year is plenty of time for a carb to fall out of tune or get clogged with crap. Replace the filter and check the pump is running smoothly. Matt
  17. Adjustable top arms That would be a ginormious effort to make, not to mention expensive. Sloting the b/j would be much easyer, although I do admit some-what more ghetto approach.
  18. Burnt Rubber, is thats safe/ legal ? Done it on either of you gems? You got me thinking now eh! Matt
  19. Driftin, Me and zep wantt to do the same thing for out gems. How low does you gem sit, and what are rate options on them?
  20. Only issue i can see is parts, if the engines a bit tired you'll really struggle to get anything for it. I know of a place in northland that sell pistons and rings for them, but as for a vrs or any of the bearings im unsure, just make sure that its in good nik. They're a great little engine in standard form. Zep i think had intended a little more then what a stock 4zc1-t could offer, so his g161 is a pretty solid little build. If you serious about making power, then you may aswell just buy anyold g200 or 4zc1 and start from the ground up. Once you start putting forged pistons/ different turbos ect on/ in it, it doesnt really matter if it was initally a turbo motor or not. Matt
  21. UPDATE. Installed a One inch master cyclinder, solved all my braking issues. Also installed a pertronics ignition, makes a real differance, idles much smoother and its far more responsive. Have also put on a whiteline sway bar and some better front pads. Really happy with the way she drives at the moment. Matt
  22. Good to see it coming along! Last time iI went over there the paint looked shmic as, shes guna look good when she rolls out those garage doors. Matt
